But of course, it is the answer –
It is the answer to the longstanding problem
of how to achieve political integration,
despite opposition from member states and their peoples.
Underlying this is the whole programme of "market liberalisation" –
which is actually anything but.
The ostensible aim is to break up national monopolies
but the real objective is to break up national enterprises,
and detach them from their national regulatory bases,
ecreating them as "European" – i.e., cross-border enterprises.
This then justifies the creation of a European regulatory authority –
which is what we are seeing here –
under the control of the European Union.
