LARRY KING: Bob Salas is a former captain [of the] U.S. Air Force.
He was at Malstrom Air Force Base in 1967, where there were claims that a UFO caused missiles to malfunction. SALAS: I was on duty as a missile launch officer.
First, I get one call saying that they're seeing strange lights flying in the sky.
About five minutes later ... the flight security controller calls down and says he's looking at a glowing red object, very large, hovering over the front gate.
Within seconds of that call, my missiles start shutting down. I recall losing all 10 of them. KING: Bob Jamison you were there too, right? JAMISON:
My job as a target officer was to bring them back up. KING:
Is it possible they just malfunctioned? JAMISON: Very rarely does a missile malfunction. Much more rare would be two at the same time. But never ten.
DR. BOB JACOBS: I was in charge of optical instrumentation at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Our job was to photograph ... every missile launch.
[One day] we photographed an Atlas missile raising up out of the fog cover.
The next day I was called into the office. Major Mansmann [turned on] the projector.

Aliens have contacted humans several times but governments have hidden the truth for 60 years, the sixth man to walk on the moon has claimed.
Apollo 14 astronaut Dr Edgar Mitchell, said he was aware of many UFO visits to Earth during his career with NASA but each one was covered up.
Dr Mitchell, 77, said during a radio interview that sources at the space agency who had had contact with aliens described the beings as 'little people who look strange to us.'
He said supposedly real-life ET's were similar to the traditional image of a small frame, large eyes and head.

Obama's whirlwind tour of Israel is completed, and I find that readers are seeking comments on that visit. He did it all right while here: Visiting Yad VaShem (the Holocaust Memorial -- required stop for all visiting dignitaries), Sderot, the Kotel -- making appropriate comments in each place, and meeting with top leaders.
If there was any concern I had, it was that Obama saw fit to pay a visit to Ramallah and meet with Abbas and Fayyad -- something McCain opted not to do when he was here. There was no press conference from Ramallah -- it is my impression that he was seeking to keep this low key.
From Aaron Klein at WorldNetDaily comes a report from someone who attended Obama's meeting with Abbas. Obama reportedly assured PA leadership that there was a "misunderstanding" with regard to his statement about an undivided Jerusalem -- a mistake he corrected immediately. This PA official said Obama told them he supports a negotiated settlement that would give the Palestinians territory in Jerusalem. He also expressed "full understanding" regarding the need for Israel to halt "settlement activity."

The Knesset Audit Committee is likely to support a public inquiry committee that will investigate the government's treatment of the Gush Katif expellees. Twenty housing units have been approved for former residents of the now-destroyed Gush Katif town of Shirat HaYam in Maskiyot in the Jordan Valley.
81% of Expelled Families Still Far From Permanent Homes
Three years after the Disengagement, the Knesset Audit Committee is on the way to initiating a public inquiry committee that will investigate the government's treatment of the Gush Katif expellees. The proposal follows this week's release of a report showing that 81% of expellees are still in temporary housing, among other grave findings.
A special gathering was held at the Knesset on Wednesday to mark the approaching third anniversary of the Disengagement. The results of the survey - conducted by the Brain Base Institute, headed by Prof. Yitzchak Katz, for the Gush Katif Residents Committee - were presented for the occasion.
The survey shows that of the 81% still on wheels, nearly half of them believe that it will take at least two more years - five years since their expulsion - until they are able to move to permament homes. Two-thirds of the expellees are unhappy with their temporary housing.

AMMAN, Jordan - There is something that Barack Obama's campaign doesn't want you to see: The candidate among the Arabs.
In his whirlwind tour, the candidate sped through this city where he is held in joyous high regard both for his Muslim roots and the perception, rightly or wrongly, that he might pursue a more "even-handed" Middle East policy (read: more pro-Arab, less pro-Israel).
If Obama had chosen to linger in Jordan more than just eight hours yesterday, he could have headlined a rally here that would have drawn enough jubilant Muslim supporters to fill the Dead Sea.
But the last thing Obama's campaign - which brilliantly choreographs every event - wants are pictures of him before a multitude of ecstatic Arabs.
Such images would terrify American voters already wary of the guy with the funny-sounding name, and only serve to reinforce the widespread myth that Obama is a Muslim. Instead, the campaign will let you see a mass rally in Berlin, with thousands of supporters - possibly 100,000 or more - cheering and fainting and crying.
The campaign also will let you see Obama in Jerusalem thronged by Jews, possibly even visiting the Western Wall, and mingling in solidarity with Israelis in the embattled town of Sderot, the favored target for Palestinian rocket attacks.

Nobel Prize winner and Columbia University economist Robert Mundell, a principal contributor to the creation of the euro, says that ending the Bush tax cuts — as proposed by presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama — would cause "a big recession, a nosedive."
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Mundell said, "the most important thing that could be done with respect to tax rates is to make the Bush tax cuts permanent."
Mundell, an expert in many areas of economics including the proposition that low taxes stimulate an economy, also provided the intellectual groundwork behind the Reagan tax-cut revolution.
The Reagan-era tax cuts — the so-called "supply-side economics" approach to encouraging economic growth — were "as important to the United States as the creation of the euro was to Europe — a fundamental change," Mundell says.
Of the long list of financial woes afflicting the U.S. and global economies, Mundell says "the big issue economically ... is what's going to happen to taxes."
Abruptly raising taxes could be "lethal," according to Mundell.
"This would be devastating to the world economy, to the United States, and it would be, I think, political suicide," says Mundell.
U.S. tax rates fluctuated wildly throughout the 20th century, Mundell points out, with income tax at 3 percent in 1913, up to 60 percent during World War I, to a top rate of 92.5 percent at the height of World War II.
