EU Funding Fraud in Kosovo
British taxpayers money has been used for years by the EU to purchase popular support amongst candidate countries by funding infrastructure and other projects likely to generate public awareness and support.
According to a group of MEPs who visited the area in June, the EU is now funding the Kosovo electricity industry to the tune of some 400 million euros a year.
But there is an embarrassing problem. Only half the electricity generated in Kosovo is sold direct to consumers. The other half is apparently diverted into a labyrinth of sub-contracting companies which rack up prices and cream off the difference.
It´s good to know our taxes are being put to such good use, don´t you think?
