West is Fighting War of Religion - Not Terror
The West needs to understand that it is not just fighting against terrorism. It is fighting a war of religion. “Pretending otherwise, as the EU is doing, is to ignore the elephant in the room”, said Ashley Mote MEP, independent, South-East England after a debate on terrorism in the European Parliament in Brussels today, 23 September 2008.
Earlier, Mr Mote had been allowed one minute to speak in a debate of terrorism lasting three hours.
The full text of Mr Mote’s speech follows:
Earlier this month the chairman of the Muslim Council in Britain addressed a meeting in this building when he categorically rejected reciprocity between faiths, demanded that the indigenous population had an obligation to welcome newcomers, and that those newcomers had a right to remain separate.
He made no reference whatsoever to weeding out Islamic fanatics in his community despite knowing - as he must - that Muslims and only Muslims have the knowledge to find and stop them effectively.
It was not Scottish rugby players who blew up the tube trains in London. Nor was it Welsh farmers or English cricketers. It was a bunch of brainwashed Muslim youngsters looking for 72 vestal virgins in paradise and believing they had a God-given right to slaughter non-believers.
We are not fighting terrorism. We are fighting a war of religion. Terror is their weapon of choice. I’ve explained all this in my pamphlet J’Accuse…!
In wars you face facts and take tough decisions. You fight to win.
The West needs to understand the implications that this is a war of religion - and it needs to do so fast.

The following letter has been sent this week by Ashley Mote MEP to:
Imam Dr Abdulijalil Sajid
Chairman
Muslim Council for Religious and Racial Harmony, UK
You spoke at a meeting in the European Parliament a week or so ago and I had intended to respond at the time. Unfortunately I was unable to take the floor during the limited time after the speeches.
May I therefore ask you now why you made no reference to the contradiction demonstrated recently on British TV between your community’s claims to be integrationalist and the teachings of isolationism in some of your UK mosques. There is clearly a gulf between the Islamic and non-Islamic communities in this country and it seems that it is being reinforced by your activities rather than bridged.
Sadly, recent reports from several Scandinavian countries clearly indicate that similar problems are emerging there as Muslim arrivals wilfully fail to become a part of their new country of residence.
During your talk you made a number of assumptions about the tolerance of the British and you suggested that the indigenous population had an obligation to welcome newcomers. Your rejection of reciprocity, as advocated by the priest who spoke, was startling. Enclaves are divisive, whatever their origin, as your own study of history must have shown.
Might I remind you that we all have a duty to live in a two-way street and the indigenous peoples of Britain have the right to expect newcomers to embrace our way of life rather than attempt to change it. There is no place for Sharia law in Britain.
My final point at your meeting would have been about dealing with the horrific problem of Islamic fundamentalism in UK. As I have said and argued in my pamphlet J´Accuse, only the Muslim communities can remove this threat by finding and dealing with the miscreants. You made no mention of doing any such thing. Addressing that would be a much better use of your time than lecturing your host nation.
I would be glad to receive your observations and I should mention in advance that I will be circulating your reply together with copies of this letter to various interested parties.
