Iran’s naval chief Adm. Habibollah Sayyari told state radio Tuesday, Oct,.28, that the base could be used to block the entry of any “enemy” into the Persian Gulf.

The new base is in the port town of Jask on Iran’s southeastern coast opposite the point where the Gulf of Oman flows into the strait.

Its location provides quick access to the Red Sea, Indian Ocean and Horn of Africa and support for three objectives, one of which is proximity to Israeli Dolphin submarines.

Egyptian Gen. Omar Suleiman pens most anti-Israel document in years

The relevant provision in the National Palestinian Accord drafted by Egyptian intelligence minister Gen. Omar Suleiman enshrines the Palestinians’ “legitimate right to resistance [euphemism for terror] for as long as “the occupation” is sustained,DEBKAfile’s Middle East sources disclose. The draft was drawn up as part of the Mubarak government’s effort to broker the reconciliation of the Palestinian Hamas and Fatah. Two arrested in alleged plot to assassinate Barack Obama

The ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) says it has broken up a plot to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and shoot or decapitate 102 black people in a Tennessee murder spree, the Associated Press reports. The credibility of the threat is uncertain, but no chances are being taken eight days before the presidential election.
