IAF To Purchase Fighter Jets After Pentagon Approves Deal
Israel’s Air Force will purchase 25 F-35 joint strike fighter jets after the Pentagon approved the sale paving the way for the deal. The deal is reportedly valued at $15.2 billion and provides the option to purchase an additional 50 additional bombers in the coming years. According to reports the estimated value of each plane is between $70 million and $80 million.

Marking the beginning of the Night of Scientists an exhibit that opened last week, the Hebrew University displayed the refurbished telescope that once belonged to Albert Einstein. The telescope which was given to Einstein in 1954, was discovered recently in a university store room and was restored to working condition.09/28/08  The U.S. Army's European Command deployed an early-warning radar system in Israel last week along with a 120-member support team, marking the first permanent presence in Israel of American military personnel. The high-powered radar system is meant to augment Israel's defenses against Iranian ground-to-ground missiles. 09/28/08  Last month Infolive tv reported on the US plans to deploy a radar system in Israel along with personnel from the US Army. The American troops and the early warning sytem are already in Israel preparing the system to become operational. This is the August report.The combined U.S. and Israeli system is expected to double or even triple the range at which Israel can detect, track and ultimately defend against Iranian missiles such as the long range Shihab and Ashura-class ballistic missiles. 09/28/08  On September 22nd, thousands of Israeli school children gathered at technology centers across the country to participate in an international Internet festival hosted by Israel’s Lehava Center.
