(IsraelNN.com) Jewish residents of Migron reported Monday that Arabs from a nearby village attempted to kidnap two young Jews. The attack took place as Border Police were demolishing a structure used as a meeting place by local Jewish youths. Despite witnessing the attack, Border Police chose not to intervene, residents said, and the kidnapping was foiled only due to the efforts of alert local teens.
The attack began when a group of Arab men approached several Jewish youths on the outskirts of town, near the building that was being destroyed, and began pelting them with stones. The Arabs managed to overpower the group and to grab two of the youths. They then bound the youths and began dragging them away.
The two youths continued to struggle and were beaten by the mob. One was stabbed in the head and wounded.
When the other youths realized what was happening, they gathered a group of approximately 15 youths and ran after the attackers. The attackers fled, leaving the two bound and injured Jews behind. One was treated at the scene of the attack, while the other required more extensive treatment and was taken to a hospital.
As the kidnapping attempt unfolded, several Border Police officers who were providing security for those demolishing the building stood nearby and watched, witnesses said. The officers did not intervene to prevent the attack. After the attackers had fled, police arrested two of the Jewish youths responsible for driving them away, the witnesses said.
