What Opportunities Lie Ahead?
by Brigitte Gabriel

Dear Harold,

Yesterday, in the first of a four-part series of emails I am sending you, we took a look back at where ACT! for America has come from and what we have accomplished thus far in 2008. As I said in that email, I believe that decades from now historians will point to ACT! for America as a principal reason for why America successfully resisted the rising tide of Islamofascism.

This year we took a big step forward towards ultimately fulfilling our mission. Where, then, do we go from here? What opportunities lie ahead of us? What challenges face us, begging to be overcome? What threats must we push back against?

To begin with, I think it’s safe to assume that the degree of access and entrĂ©e to the highest levels of government enjoyed by organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) will only increase under an Obama presidency. This means that it will be more important than ever for us to organize and mobilize the ACT! for America citizen action network.

Just recently a key congressional leader told me bluntly that we cannot count on “the government” to protect us from the many threats of cultural jihad now aimed at us. This courageous leader stated flatly that any effort to roll back the threat of radical Islam to America will have to come from the grassroots.

So it will be more important than ever to give voice to the majority of Americans who, while more than willing to be tolerant of a faith other than their own, are not willing for any ideology to subvert our constitution or threaten our safety and security.

Recently we obtained, from confidential sources within CAIR, that organization’s 2007 strategy memo. The memo spells out what CAIR aims to accomplish over the next few years. Quoting from the strategy memo we read:
“By December 31, 2010, we [CAIR} will be supporting a $12,000,000 budget…We will have a presence covering all states, with at least 28 state chapters…

“We will impact local Congressional districts with each chapter influencing at least two legislators…We will focus on Congressmen responsible for policy that directly impacts the American Muslim community. For example, Congressmen on the judiciary, intelligence, and homeland security committees. We will develop national initiatives such as lobby day and placing Muslim interns in Congressional offices.

“In concert with local chapters we will sustain an ongoing media campaign to change the hearts and minds of Americans…”
CAIR is just one arm of the American Islamic lobby. We should expect every Islamic organization in America to feel emboldened and empowered by the results of the 2008 election. But we should not be discouraged.

I don’t believe most Americans who voted for “change” in this past election defined change as submitting to the demands and the agenda of Islamists who seek to impose their supremacist ideology on the rest of us. As the Islamists become bolder their agenda will become clearer. Their very boldness will help us awaken America.

One area where they are moving quickly and boldly is in the area of Shariah-compliant finance (SCF). Shariah-compliant finance is emerging as the most rapidly advancing tentacle of cultural jihad.

This threat is very real and very dangerous. Financial institutions desperate for cash – and even our own Treasury Department – are looking more and more to Islamic finance as a way to inject much-needed capital into our economy. It’s clear to us that Wall Street and Washington, in their desperation to alleviate the financial crisis, are not taking the precautions necessary to protect us from the imposition of shariah-compliant financing.

There are numerous reasons why this is so dangerous, but here’s just one – shariah-compliant finance has been instrumental in the Islamist subversion of Great Britain, where we now see shariah courts empowered to enforce shariah law in major cities throughout the country.

Think this can’t happen here? You probably didn’t hear about the legal battle between a Muslim husband and wife, heard in the 322nd District Court of Tarrant County, Texas, back in 2002. The court ruled:
“…that the parties: after consultation with their respective attorneys, agree to submit all claims and disputes among them to arbitration by the TEXAS ISLAMIC COURT…

…The Parties agree to arbitrate all existing issues among them in the above mentioned Cause Numbers in the appropriate District Court…the determination of each party's responsibilities and duties according to the Islamic rules of law by Texas Islamic Court.”
In other words, an Islamic court governed by Islamic rules of law was empowered by the Texas County District Court to reach an arbitrated solution.

What will happen to our courts and our laws when our largest financial institutions and our Treasury Department are deeply indebted to shariah-compliant monies??? Do these financial and policy “experts” believe these dollars come without “strings attached?” What kind of pressures will eventually be brought to bear on government and financial leaders by those Islamist leaders of shariah-compliant finance who call this “jihad with money?”

On the foreign policy front, I wish I could be more optimistic that a President Obama will properly manage the Iranian nuclear weapons challenge. Our staff researched his various public statements on Iran and on terrorism in general, and we do not believe he understands or is willing to acknowledge the true nature of the threat, nor are we convinced he is sufficiently committed to making the tough choices that will have to be made.

If this turns out to be the case, the growing, clear threat of a nuclear Iran will motivate more and more Americans to search for a way to express their concern and dissatisfaction with an Obama foreign policy that puts us at risk. ACT! for America will be that vehicle.

I believe Joe Biden was prophetic when he maintained that a President Obama will be tested by some foreign policy or international incident during his first six months in office. Our enemies know that we have been wounded by the financial crisis of the past few months. They know we have lost confidence in our national institutions.

They know that we will be transitioning from one president to another. They know that Barack Obama has not faced any tests of the nature or degree that will likely confront him as President.

And many of them are already angry with Obama for his choice of “Zionists” to be part of his leadership team. They are so angry that they’re publicly calling him a “traitor,” a “snake,” and a “hypocrite.”

What kind of “test” will a President Obama face? Here’s a real possibility.

Israeli intelligence has recently released information that al Qaeda’s Yemen base, which has been a reliable barometer for Osama bin Laden’s activities, issued a “Directive to All Fighters in Arabia” on Nov. 9. This directive referenced a major operation in the United States that will “change the political and economic world” and be “far bigger than 9/11.”

Should such a “test” come it could well be a painful reminder to us that we ignore the evil in the world around us at our own peril.

There is an Oriental proverb that says “May you live in interesting times.” We do indeed live in “interesting” times. But we must not despair or lose heart. Americans have always found the will to emerge victorious through times of war and economic depression.

This time, however, we must find the will to combat an ideology that is not isolated in some foreign land but is spreading its tentacles through cultural jihad, terrorism and infiltration throughout the world.

We must find the courage to steadfastly declare that the tolerance of Islamofascism is not tolerance but the road to cultural suicide.

We must refuse to kowtow to political correctness.

We must find the will to reject the self-loathing by those Americans who blame every world problem on some perceived or exaggerated failure of America.

And we must find the will to speak out boldly and proudly that the values that undergird America and Western Civilization are values worth fighting for.

Tomorrow, in the third part of this series of messages to you, I will lay out how ACT! for America will tackle these challenges through our goals and action items for 2009.

Take heart! With your help, we will prevail.

Always devoted,

Brigitte Gabriel
