An Iranian aid ship due to dock in Gaza in 12 days

Iran's Red Crescent will send an aid shipment to the Gaza strip "in the face of the Israeli blockade," according to a state broadcast Friday. The cargo of 2,000 tonnes of food and medicines accompanied by 12 Iranian doctors will sail from Bandar Abbas, HQ of the Revolutionary Guards Navy, and arrive Tuesday, Jan. 6.

Announcement of the shipment was made by the Bandar Abbas provincial Red Crescent director Ahmad Navvab, in order to deter the Israeli navy from interfering with or seizing the vessel.

Israeli air force hits back at Hamas in Gaza

Sources in Gaza report at least 140 killed, 200 injured by waves of Israel Israeli Air Force planes which destroyed Hamas security headquarters in Gaza City, as well compounds, police stations and ports across the Gaza Strip. Several Hamas commanders were killed in the bombardment of a Hamas military passing-out ceremony.

The Israeli militry spokesman said the operpation in response to Palestinian terrorist attacks was just beginning. It would be expanded and intensified if needed. Locations around the Palestinian enclave are on alert for reprisals.

Hamas has called on Palestinian factions to "avenge Israel's attacks."

DEBKAfile's military sources report some 20,000 troops of Pakistan's 14th Division are said to have been diverted from the Waziristan border region with Afghanistan to the Line of Control in Kashmir and the international border with India. This is a loss of one-fifth of the total Pakistani force fighting the Taliban and al Qaeda.

Border tensions shot up Friday, Dec. 26, exactly one month after Islamist Lashkar e-Taibe terrorists struck the Indian town of Mumbai.
