I heard the following from a South African Military Intelligence Officer who fought in Angola.
During the war there, at one point, in a firefight, they captured a FAPLA (Angolan Army) soldier. They gave this black soldier a cigarette and they waited with him in the bush while a helicopter was summoned to come and take him away for interrogation.
While waiting, the white Military Intelligence officer began asking the black soldier some questions.
He asked him, "Do you know what Communism is?"
The black soldier looked back at them and said, "They call us communists but I actually don't know what communism is".
He thought for a while. Then he said, "In the past, the Portuguese (in Angola) had everything, and we (blacks) had nothing. Now the Portuguese have nothing and we have nothing. I suppose that's communism!"
I thought that was a candid and quite brilliant, as well as totally hillarious, comment from a black soldier. That sums it up: In the end, the whites have nothing and the blacks have nothing! That's communism for you!
