First Israeli forces leave Gaza after Hamas declares conditional ceasefire DEBKAfile Special Report January 18, 2009, 9:35 PM (GMT+02:00) Ceasefire ends 22-day Operation Cast Lead The Hamas declaration of a ceasefire Sunday, Jan. 18, came in response to Israel's unilateral cessation of fire at 0200 hours. Hamas leader Mussa Abu Marzuk said in Damascus on behalf of all the Palestinian organizations that the cessation was contingent on Israeli forces withdrawing from the Gaza Strip within a week.
