Another thing on which the British media have been a trifle reticent is the way in which Foreign Secretary David (bananaman) Miliband has upset yet another UK ally after showing such hostility towards Israel. In his much-ridiculed Guardian article denying that Islamic terrorism was a unified phenomenon and claiming that Islamic terrorism could be defeated by 'co-operation', he wrote that Lashkar e Taiba, the group held to be responsible for the Mumbai massacre last month, was only concerned with the issue of Kashmir. As I said here, LeT wants the restoration of Islamic rule over the whole of South Asia, Russia and China, to destroy India and wipe out both Hinduism and Judaism and has declared the United States, Israel and India as existential enemies of Islam.

India has reacted with unmitigated fury to Miliband's comments...

Hamas breaks cease-fire, Britain ignores it

Well that didn’t last long, did it.  The Hamas-declared ceasefire lasted for the whole of Monday. Yesterday, as Israel’s troops tactfully departed Gaza so as not to rain on Obama’s parade gunmen in Gaza fired at IDF patrols in two separate incidents. Today, Ha’aretzreports: 

The Israel Air Force on Tuesday attacked areas in the Gaza Strip from which Palestinians fired mortar shells. The Israel Defense Forces said that about eight mortar shells were shot from near a central Gaza refugee camp, apparently by Hamas. Two of the shells landed in the Strip and the rest fell in open territory in the western Negev near the border.

... The Palestinians also fired light weapons into Israel on Tuesday, from both north and south of the Kissufim crossing. An explosive charge was also apparently set off.
