There is a major story in the Telegraph - though I can't find it on
their website anywhere . Why Not? And the BBC doesn't appear to have
covered it either, but then you don't expect the Beeb to back Britain .
This was the story of the biggest and most successful offensive
operation our forces in Afghanistan have probably ever carried out.
It involved 700 + troops from the Marines and it attacked a Taliban
HQ and opium factory. which was in full production when the attack
went in.
Results :
1. No British losses
2. £50 million of opium seized
3. All 20 defenders killed
4. a suicide bomb motor-bike captured
5. 'scores' of machine guns seized
6. Gallons of chemicals also seized (for turning opium into heroin)
This heroin will not b e on sale in Britain now amd the Talibanwill
be short of funds.
The story headlined :"700 troops raid Taliban drug HQ" was by-line
Thomas Harding, Defence correspondent and had dramatic pictures.
Why was this not the lead story in every British paper - and the
American ones too, for that matter?
