DRAFT KOKESH

If you don’t know Adam Kokesh, please watch this speech in front of 10,000 of the Ron Paul Grassroots, on July 12th, 2008, at the r3VOLution march:

Can you imagine this man running for, and voting in, Congress? haha - That, my friends, will be some real “change”.

The man is a champion of speaking truth to power. He is a well versed adherent of the message, with a gifted ability to get his point across. We need a lot more people like him and they certainly get my support.

Imagine the excitement his run would add to the 2010 race. His activism and positions have bi-partisan (independent) appeal, he has a pre-existing base. Given the right support, it could be a hell of a campaign.

Let’s start moving on 2010! In addition to a lionshare of downticket races, we will be running federal campaigns, as well. Running Adam Kokesh in 2010 would certainly send a message that we are here, and not afraid.

Welcome to DraftKokesh.com

The purpose of this site is to gather together a grassroots group of people to convince Adam Kokesh to run for congress in 2010.

I had the pleasure of meeting Adam at Ron Paul’s “Rally For the Republic”, (I sang the anthem there), and was very impressed with the core Constitutional ideals he held and how he articulated them in a way that was not only very clear, but very inspiring at the same time. Adam has recently moved back to his home state of New Mexico and I can’t help but wonder if he may be considering working in local politics. I have seen a couple folks on ronpaulforums.com mention that the idea has been presented to Adam, I’m hoping that by getting a group of supporters together we may be able to convince him to run.

Please sign the petition and take a couple minutes to email this site to a few of your Freedom loving friends.

Thanks
Matt Colvin

BJ Lawson Writes About Adam Kokesh

I had the privilege of meeting Adam Kokesh at the Restore the Republic Rally last fall in Minneapolis. Having followed his efforts through Iraq Veterans Against the War, in person I was even more impressed by his principled and articulate defense of liberty. Adam subsequently came to North Carolina as a grassroots volunteer to assist our Lawson for Congress campaign, and worked tirelessly to turn votes at the polls all the way through election day.

Over those weeks in the campaign I came to appreciate the universal fire that drives all Americans who pursue real, principled change: a federal government that lives within the Constitution, and a foreign policy of strong defense and nonaggression, and respect for civil liberties, economic liberties and the rule of law. There are many who nurture the flame, but Adam embodies the few in whom the flame becomes a full-fledged inferno. Adam Kokesh is a passionate and principled voice for peace, prosperity, and liberty.

New Mexico needs Congressman Adam Kokesh. America needs Congressman Adam Kokesh. Draft Adam Kokesh for U.S. Congress in 2010.

Interview on Wake Up, America

Adam was interviewed by Kurt Wallace recently, here are some excerpts:

Kurt Wallace: Adam, Thanks for being with us today. Tell us more about yourself, your background.

Adam Kokesh: I’ve always been a libertarian, at least intellectually, but it took a tour to Iraq in 2004 and a gradual disillusionment to get me to truly internalize the philosophy on an emotional and spiritual level. I was in the Marine Corps Reserves while getting an undergrad degree in psychology, before moving on to pursuing a Master’s in Political Management from George Washington University. I just moved back to my hometown of Santa Fe to take a step back from the hustle of DC to be able to work on some more long term projects including serving on the board of directors of Iraq Veterans Against the War and getting my book published.

Kurt Wallace: You are planning to run for US Congress In what district?

Adam Kokesh: “Planning” isn’t the right word yet! I am seriously considering running after all of the encouragement that I’ve got over the last two years, especially from the anti-war movement. I’m looking at the dynamics of the race and doing some research and it definitely seems winnable. The main question for me now is whether or not it’s the right thing for the cause of freedom. We need rallying points going into 2010, and if this campaign can be one of them, I will step up. I would be asking for a lot of help from people all over the country and I have to make sure that this would be an effort worthy of their support. I also have to be sure that this is where I can be most effective in the cause of liberty.

Kurt Wallace: What ticket?

Adam Kokesh: I’m not sure. That bridge is a ways off still.

Kurt Wallace: What made you decide to run for US congress?

Adam Kokesh: Well, I haven’t quite crossed the Rubicon yet! But if I do, it will be to take on the greatest injustices to human rights in the world, the bulk of which are made possible by the United States government. I figure in that endeavor, Congress would be a good place to plant another flag for freedom.

Kurt Wallace: Give us an idea of the type of voters in your district?

Adam Kokesh: The district is very rural and the key would be to organize the rural vote that has largely been dismissed by the Democratic machine here. There is also a “liberal base” in Santa Fe that drank a lot of the Obama Kool-Aid, but they’re really more Kucinich-types than big government Obama Democrats. I think my anti-war record will be a huge asset in pulling them out from underneath the incumbent who probably takes them for granted.

Kurt Wallace: Why will voters want you as their representative and what qualifies you for US Congress?

Adam Kokesh: What I would want in a Congressman is someone who will be able to articulate the basic human desire for liberty and will work tirelessly to challenge and dismantle the abusive power of the federal government. As an activist, that’s what I’ve been doing for the last few years, and I think I have proven my abilities to continue to do so in whatever venue that the people of this country will graciously allow me to.

Kurt Wallace: What are your top three issues?

Adam Kokesh: My top three issues are the criminality of our foreign policy, the abuses of the police state including the war on drugs, and the fiscal irresponsibility of our federal government creating the debt we are passing on to our children.

Kurt Wallace: What is presently the largest problem with our representatives in Washington? How would you appeal to your constituents to look at these things?

Adam Kokesh: The biggest problem with our representatives in Washington is the people that elect them! I could tell you all about the pathology of certain representatives or the power-seeking mentality, but as Alexis De Toqueville said in 1831, “In a democracy, the people will get the government they deserve.” Now, I know we are a Constitutional Republic, but the principle holds true for all forms of government. I would be offering the people of New Mexico’s third district a choice. They can have someone who will pander to them and make promise after promise regardless of the consequences, or someone who will stand on principle. The choice is theirs to make.

Kurt Wallace: Describe the first six months of your congressional service after elected?

Adam Kokesh: I don’t want to be a Member of Congress so much as I want to be an activist who just so happens to be a Member of Congress! So the first six months are going to be interesting to say the least. I want to be in a position to create leverage points in the form of legislation around which our movement can pressure other Members of Congress and thus shift the national dialogue.

Kurt Wallace: Adam thank you for participating in this blog interview. Any final words for our audience?

Adam Kokesh: In order for this movement to succeed, we need to complete the transition from an intellectual movement to a political one. We are going to do this by making the case from the underlying values of our philosophy. For me, they are love, faith, and respect. But that’s a whole other interview!

- Someone you NEED to know -

Harold,

Allow me to introduce you to someone I consider a valuable asset to our movement to restore America, his name is Adam Kokesh. Through my travels and appearances across our Republic I have had the privilege to rub shoulders with him several times and every time I see him there is a charisma and spirit of youthful revolution surrounding him.

When he speaks in public he receives standing ovations, to me this means his message of freedom is resonating in the hearts of those who have ears to hear. He means what he says, and does what he says, and respects our constitution. That is why we need to send Adam to the United States Congress.

I anxiously await the day that he takes the floor of the Congress and delivers the words that we would all really want to say to the self serving crooks in DC.  A man of his fortitude, intellect, and energy will bring our message to the halls of the US Capitol Building to join Dr. Ron Paul in the fight to resurrect our constitution and restore our Republic. Please take a minute today and visit his exploratory site and pledge your support for a man that we need in Washington. http://DraftKokesh.com
