OBAMA COMES TO EUROPE

Obama IS the news with his first presidential trip to Europe. One of the two BIG items that concern the world is the Group of 20 meeting in London, which we overview. We consider some of the wise comments made by such as Merkel and Kissinger, echoing George Soros and Warren Buffet - the voices of common sense from an unchallengeable position of personal success. We observe that survivors amongst the financial speculators, are shamelessly lobbying against any increase in regulation - well they would, wouldn't they.

Obviously, one short meeting will leave much unfinished business, so we ask about issues apparently not on this agenda: the plastic torrents of questionable credit card debt, amounting to trillions; what to do about the now infamous ratings agencies, and their 'triple A' mortgages; but most important, how will these 'Group of 20' and other governments save their taxpayers from ever again being 'bankers of last resort' to financial speculators?

The new president also has his first Nato meeting, the other big story, to be held in Germany, where the burning issue is Afghanistan - and Pakistan, both nations on which we have been reporting for years. We have observations to make on this key foreign policy area, based on our extensive coverage and the conclusions that we have reached, as well as current reports on both nations.

SHARIA LAW: THIS REVERSION TO 1400 YEAR OLD BIBLICAL ABSOLUTISM, IS REFLECTED IN THE FACT THAT MANY IN THE WEST NOW KNOW WHAT IT IS!. WE LOOK AT SOMALIA LINING UP TO BE RECOGNISED, IN CONTEXT, AS THE WORLDS WORST PROBLEM NATION.

IRAQ is readying itself for its pivotal elections. The issue is homing in, not on religious divisions, for which we must all be grateful, but on whether it should be a federal state or have centralised government. It is an important issue. If they get it wrong it could lead to more civil war - and passions run high as we explain - and argue for federalism.

North Korea has been teasing the world over the launching of its three stage rocket the Taepodong II, seemingly waiting for a suitable world event that it can upstage - perhaps the Group of 20 will be it? This is to be one of North Korea's "Look at me" moments, but we look at them now!

IRAN, that other Obama project, is fully reported including their upcoming presidential election. We look at the candidates so far and the critical issue of their economy.

UKRAINE is in trouble, not just because of the continuing squabble between president and prime minister, but it is singularly unlucky, in that its export products are particularly hard-hit. We also report a helpful gesture to Kiev by Moscow.

RUSSIA represented by Medvedev not Putin at the Group of 20, is hopefully to find new beginnings with the USA. One brief meeting won't do that, but we hope and expect that invitations will be exchanged for more substantive discussions. We look at how the financial crisis is affecting RUSSIA, and other interesting developments.
