US Advised Japan to Stand Down Against N. Korea

China Confidential analysts in Japan and South Korea say the United States strongly advised Japan to avoid shooting down North Korea's ICBM, which the Stalinist/Kimist state tested last Saturday night EDT.

North Korea had threatened to attack Japan if it interfered with the launch. The North had also threatened to attack South Korea and the U.S.

Washington fears a new Korean conflict.

The U.S. also fears for the lives of two American hostages that North Korea is holding.

Pyongyang has the upper hand.
