I woke up this morning with over 700 email messages, a lot of them wanting to know what can I do to get prepared for what ever is coming?

Honestly I don't know why folks think I know what to do as I am just like you are, just trying to do the best I can and make sure I have everything my family "MAY" need in a coming crisis. No one can make sure they have everything as there is just too much we are used to having on hand or can go to the store for quickly. I started thinking in terms of what if there was no store open anywhere? Where would I get the item?

It seems like everyone is so busy storing up foods for the family and are consumed with this one facet of stockpiling. While this is the main item to concentrate on there are so many other items we use every day that would not be available if everything went south.

While food is the most important item to be thinking about there are hundreds of other things we all need to be keeping. Just start thinking everytime you clean house, cook, work in the yard etc of what would you do if you were not able to buy the products you are using now? Can you make it yourself? Can you do without it?

Common things that may become scarce or just unavailable:

Thread --- Needles --- Sissors --- Material ( old sheets will make good shirts etc) --- Spray Bottles --- screws --- nails --- hand tools --- Pencils ( ball points run out of ink pretty soon) --- paper --- glue --- safety pins --- reference books --- clothes pins --- rope, twine, string --- rubber bands --- Lye for making soap, the list can go on and on.

In the Kitchen:

Baking Soda --- Vinegar --- Spices --- Oil --- Sugar --- Corn Starch --- reusable storage containers --- chocolate --- tea --- coffee --- yeast --- etc:

If times do get really bad the most valuable source of barter may just be things like Salt, Pepper, Oil, Sugar, Coffee, Tea, Whiskey, Chocolate, etc. Things that people don't think about needing everyday.

Every day make notes of what you are using that can be hard to find later and make a mental note on how to replace it, save it or find a replacement for it. If you are like me you will have a long long list in no time. Most of the items are so common place you don't really take notice of them but if they were not available it would be very disconcerting.

I am planning on moving to Freedom County in the very near future which will mean getting used to doing alot of things differently than I do here at home. We hope to be fully independant and off the grid within a year. That means we will have to do a lot of things differently, and learn to conserve energy. This will be a learning time for all of us.

We will all need to just be aware of what is going on around us daily, watch the store shelves, talk to your neighbors and keep picking up items you see on sale.

Food will be our most important item, without food you are at the mercy of the government which is something no one should want to happen, the Government is not going to make sure all your needs are met !

I have added more types of seeds to the list of what we have for sale and packaged them so they will last for years in a vacuum sealed package ready to store away for years until needed. I never added seeds of the less nutritional items as I felt it was important to make sure every one had the most nutritional plants to provide the essential elements people can live on planted in their limited garden space. I have added things like 5 different types of lettuce, vegetable spagetti and spinach. Each package will have enough seeds in it to plant 3 acres of garden. All are the open polinated types not GMO's or Hybrids.

The money from the sales of these seeds will go towards our move to Freedom County. I have put away a quart jar of each variety of seed in our collection to assure we have ample to plant a very large garden to provide food for each of the families that are in the settlement, plus enough to back up the garden if a crop failure occurs.

Something else to think about, look up on the Mormon sites and see the amount of each food a family will need to store, you will be very surprised at the amount of each item it will take to supply your needs for a year. I saw the amount of flour for one person and couldn't believe the figure, but then thought about everything that contains flour we eat every day, bread, sauces, breadings, gravy, etc..

The FREEDOM COUNTY Project is coming along slowly but surely, we still need to lease out the campsites in order to pay off the mortgage. Everyone needs to realize that you must have a back up place to go in case it becomes dangerous to stay in your home. A place with people there to help you get settled and make sure you have food and supplies and even shelter in case you are forced to leave in a hurry without your own supplies. This could very well be a life saver for your family. The price is so low many people think it is not real but it is. We realize how hard it is to buy anything now but will be the most valuable piece of real estate you can own if the economy crashes or there is a disaster of some sort. We will have people living there full time working on making sure there are enough provisions for anyone that is in need of them. The only people who will have the location are the people who have leases on these sites. There will be no influx of people who were too lazy or dumb enough to believe the government will take care of them.

We urge everyone with a lease now to make a trip out when we open it up and make some kind of arrangement for a shelter whether it is a tent ( which you can store on the property) travel trailer or RV or even a small cabin. Many people are buying the storage buildings and putting them up with a floor and insulation for a sleeping area. Several people are putting several together and making a comfortable living space for very little money. Several are planning on building more earth friendly homes like the rammed earth and hay bale structures, it will be interesting to see all the different types of shelters that will be put up. In any event there will always be people willing to help you with your building like the old barn builders of yesteryear.

Consider joining us in this project even if you never have to use the site it will be there in your ownership for vacations or what ever you feel like doing with it. It could become your families Life Line to Survival.
