Tories Support Turkish Membership of the EU

Since my letter to Michael Gove MP, the Tory who recently supported the launch of a new magazine Turkey in Europe, I have received confirmation that it is official Tory party policy to support Turkey’s application to join the EU.

Mr Gove has not answered my letter to explain how the Tories can simultaneously want to loosen, if not change, the UK’s relationship with the EU and support the application of new members.

Turkey would become the second largest member of the EU if her application succeeded, with a population of over 77 million. Only Germany has more. At the same time Islam would become the most dominant active religion in the European Union.

Much more worrying is the fact that most Turks live in Anatolia, not the Istanbul peninsula. Most of them are Muslim peasants. Their way of life is fundamentally different from that in Western Europe and ample evidence in northern Cyprus demonstrates that such people would have absolutely no interest in westernising themselves or their way of life.
