Editor's Note

The MP expenses row reached fever pitch this week and in some ways it's been a great leveller between the parties, as both sides saw their dirty laundry aired in the press.

Given the public scorn over this issue, will the government curtail the 'double allowance' for second homes? Rebecca Benneyworth is on the case.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Accountants Golf Challenge 2009, which will be taking place at the magnificent Celtic Manor Twenty Ten Ryder Cup course. This year, we're looking to find the best 'golfing' accounting firm, so sign up your team today and don't miss out on what's sure to be a brilliant corporate hospitality event for your clients, colleagues or prospects.

Also this week there's good news for those looking to grow their businesses, says Andrew Harrington.

Until next week,
