Russia, Jordan sign nuclear cooperation agreement

Russia and Jordan have signed a nuclear energy cooperation agreement, according to media reports in Moscow over the weekend. 

According to terms of the deal, Russia will provide the Hashemite Kingdom with power plants, nuclear research facilities, and training centers. 

"We intend to cooperate in building nuclear power plants... and plan to build four plants in Jordan in the coming decades," Sergei Kiriyenko, the head of Russia's state nuclear corporation, told the RIA Novosti news agency. 

Jordanian official said the key aspects of the deal are the building of a nuclear power plant to produce electricity as well as a desalination station.
