Rahm Emanuel Tries To Blackmail Israel

When I said here that the White House had not responded to Iran's threat to destroy Israel in 11 days, I was mistaken.

The White House indeed responded, in the person of White House Chief Of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

His response to Iran's genocidal threats? To go to the AIPAC conference in DC and threaten 300 prominent donors behind closed doors that 'thwarting' Iran's nukes depends on Israel knuckling under to the Palestinians.

I have absolutely no doubt that Rahm Emanuel said substantially this, even though this leak will undoubtedly be followed with 'clarifying remarks' from the White House.

Either the Obama Administration is trying to blackmail Israel, saying that the US will not assist in curtailing Iran's nuclear weapons program unless the Israelis give in to the Palestinian's demands or the message is that if Israel does everything the Arabs want, the Iranians will end their nuclear program.

This is crazy talk, frankly.

If Obama is attempting to blackmail Israel, it won't work, simply because at this point the Israelis know that sanctions won't work and the Obama Administration has no intention of atacking Iran's nuclear facilities or cooperating with an Israeli attempt to do so. All it does is to poison a relationship with a long time ally in a particularly despicable way.

If Obama has some kind of kumbayah idea that that Iran is going to magically be deterred from its nuclear and regional goals because Israel gives in to the Palestinians, he's even less connected with reality than I thought.

Either way it's inept, and dangerous to US security. And appeasement and a sign of weakness that would warm the heart of Neville Chamberlain.

Commander of Iranian Army Threatens Israel With Destruction "In Eleven Days"

Major General Ataollah Salehi, the current commander-in-chief of the Iranian Army made the announcement, according to German NTV which quotes him as promising “Destruction in 11 days”.

While Iran has promised to destroy Israel many times before, this is the first time Iran has ever made an announcement of a concrete timeline to destroy Israel. And of course, nothing out of the UN ( this is a clear violation of Article II of the UN Charter) or from the Obama Administration.

The time grows short. While I doubt that the Iranians have the capacity to do this just now, it's obvious that they will as soon as they have the capacity..perhaps using their Hamas or Hezbollah proxies.

It's shameful, but Israel is alone on this one. They need to act...and quickly.

Arlen Specter: GOP Agenda Killed Jack Kemp

Mister class, all the way:

Sen. Arlen Specter, Pennsylvania Democrat, said part of the reason that he left the Republican Party last week was disillusionment with its health-care priorities, and suggested that had the Republicans taken a more moderate track, Jack Kemp may have won his battle with cancer.

Mr. Specter, responding to a question from CBS' Bob Schieffer over whether he had let down Pennsylvanians who wanted a Republican to represent them, said he thought his priorities were more in line with those of the Democrats.

"Well, I was sorry to disappoint many people. Frankly, I was disappointed that the Republican Party didn't want me as their candidate," Mr. Specter said on "Face the Nation." "But as a matter of principle, I'm becoming much more comfortable with the Democrats' approach. And one of the items that I'm working on, Bob, is funding for medical research."

Mr. Specter continued: "If we had pursued what President Nixon declared in 1970 as the war on cancer, we would have cured many strains. I think Jack Kemp would be alive today. And that research has saved or prolonged many lives, including mine."

Nicely done, Senator...attacking conservative policies a dead man who can't defend himself favored by using his death to make political points.

As far as I'm concerned, Harry Reid and Barack Obama are welcome to Arlen Specter. Hell, he belongs there.
