Thousands of Eastern European workers are leaving Britain as the recession bites. But thousands more are flocking to take their places, immigration figures showed yesterday. In the year to last September, 56,000 Poles and others went home to the eight countries which joined the EU in 2004, more than twice as many as the previous year.
