Is Islamist Iran Plotting a Nuclear Holocaust to Hasten the Advent of the Muslim Messiah?
Iran's nuclear-arming, apocalyptic leaders believe in a messianic ruler--the Mahdi--whose advent they can hasten. He is the 12th and last of the imams recognized by mainstream Shiite Islam. He is also referred to the "Hidden Imam" and the "Lord of the Age."
An eleventh generation descendant of the prophet Muhammad through his daughter Fatima and her husband Ali, the Mahdi, Muhammad al-Muntazar, is said to have disappeared in A.D. 878 into the cave above which the great mosque of Samarra now stands. Shiite faithful believe he is still hiding in the cave and will return in the final days to restore true Islam and spread the faith to the entire world.
All of which explains Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's announcement of his regime's successful missile test on Wednesday.
Ahmadinejad: "The defense minister contacted me and said, . . . 'With divine intervention and the assistance of the Lord of the Age, the Sejil-2 rocket, which has very advanced technology, was launched from Semnan province. It hit the target exactly.' "Wednesday, May 20, 2009
Israel Will Pay for Obama's Outreach to Muslim World and Appeasement of Nuclear-Arming Iran
Eitan Haber's analysis is a must-read:Now that Benjamin Netanyahu has visited Washington and the White House and is back home, we can sum up the current situation, through the rumor mill for the time being: We are in trouble.
As opposed to almost all American presidents in recent generations, Barack Obama views himself as one who is guiding his country and the free world towards a new history, far beyond what we can see. Obama wishes to shape new universal discourse, which seeks to replace the confrontation with the radical Muslim world emerging before our eyes in recent times. Obama leads a line of reconciliation vis-à-vis this hostile world, and the price – whether we'd like it or not – will be paid by the State of Israel.
Israel has already started paying. Very soon, Obama will arrive in Cairo, and there, in a speech to more than one billion Muslims worldwide, he will take the first step out of a million steps of reconciliation. Obama still believes, apparently, that the Pakistani nuclear bomb and the Iranian nuclear bomb and other bombs expected from this terrible and hostile world can be neutralized by appeasement and accommodation.

In the face of Iranian nuclear/missile crimes and provocations, the idiocy issuing forth from the pro-appeasement Obama administration is beyond belief.
Reuters reports:Iran's latest missile test is a "step in the wrong direction" and though the United States wants to engage with Tehran to help make the region more stable, its patience is "not infinite", a U.S. official said on Wednesday.
"Iran just keeps going in the wrong direction. We want them to engage with us, to talk about how we can make the region more stable. This is just a step in the wrong direction," the official said.
AFP reports:The White House said President Barack Obama had "continued concern" about both Iran's ballistic missile efforts and its nuclear ambitions.
Obama was concerned "about Iran's missile development programs, its pursuit of nuclear weapons capability and technology," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.
The US president held "the strong belief that the pursuit of those programs do not strengthen the security of Iran but instead make them less safe," he said.
Israel had a different take on the menacing missile test. Danny Ayalon, Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister, told reporters that the new missile threatened Europe as well as Israel.
“Now it’s clear to all that Iran is playing with fire,” he said.Iran Tests New Missile that Can Hit Europe, Israel
Henry Kissinger hit the nail on the head in his televised interview yesterday. If the two rogue states are allowed to achieve their nuclear/missile development aims, there is no point of even talking about an "international system."
