Arab News Confirms China Confidential Reporting: US Pressing Israel to Sign Anti-Atomic Arms Pact

China Confidential has been reporting since early April that the United States, China, Turkey, and other countries intend to focus attention on Israel's nuclear deterrent. On April 9, for example, China Confidential said:

U.S. President Barack Obama's call for a nuclear-free world, which ironically coincided with North Korea's defiant and illegal ballistic missile test, was aimed neither at nuclear-armed North Korea nor at its nuclear-arming ally, Iran, but at a courageous, democratically governed, American ally--Israel--whose continued existence may well depend on having both nuclear arms and the political will to use them in order to prevent a second Holocaust.

Obama intends to focus attention on Israel's nuclear deterrent in an attempt to appease Iran while also currying favor with Saudi Arabia, which is competing with Iran for influence over Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist organization that has become an Iranian proxy and is clearly committed to Israel's destruction. The Saudi King (before whom Obama bowed, deeply and submissively, when the two men met last week at the G20 summit in London) believes that Israel's military power--including its presumed arsenal of nuclear missiles--is the major source of instability in the Middle East.

Now, Saudi Arabia's English-language daily newspaper, Arab News, reports:

The Obama administration may be about to rewrite a decades-old bipartisan American policy on Israel’s nuclear arsenal.

Democratic and Republican presidents previously have refused to pressure Israel to sign the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, but President Barack Obama is shaking things up.

The first hint of this change came in Prague on April 5, when Obama outlined his vision for addressing the threat presented by the proliferation of nuclear arms and how the United States could contribute to the ultimate goal of reducing the number of these weapons to zero. Then this week, Assistant US Secretary Rose Gottemoeller, the top US negotiator and head of the US delegation at the UN meeting on the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), on Tuesday called for those who have refused to join the NPT to sign the nuclear pact.

North Korea Playing Obama Like a Violin

North Korea has no intention of returning to stalled, six-nation nuclear negotiations. Instead, China Confidential sources say, the Stalinist/Kimist nation will make every effort possible--including detonating another nuclear weapon and test-firing more missiles--to pressure or intimidate the United States into direct talks. North Korea believes the U.S. will eventually give in and go along.

The North is right, unfortunately. The out-of-its-depth Obama administration is desperately trying to restart the six-party forum. Afraid, even, of confronting Islamist-linked, Somali pirates (the U.S. cargo ship captain was rescued by the U.S. Navy in spite of the Commander-in-Chief, not because of him), the cowardly crew in charge of U.S. foreign policy has no stomach for standing up to North Korea. As a result, the U.S. is practically begging China to bring its rogue vassal back to the negotiating table.

China is keeping North Korea fully informed of all relevant developments. Like Iran, North Korea could land a security guarantee if it plays its cards right with the U.S.

In the meantime, intelligence experts in Japan and South Korea say the North is also closely coordinating nuclear strategy with Iran--with Beijing's blessing.

Long term, North Korea intends to conquer the South ... and use its nuclear warheads and missiles to dominate Japan ... with Beijing's blessing.

Washington Caves to Tehran's Turbaned Tyranny

US Senator Signals Acceptance of Nuclear-Arming Regime's Regional Dominance

The Obama administration is accelerating its planned appeasement of Iran and abandonment of Israel.

More than three decades after the catastrophic Carter administration caved to Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini and betrayed the Shah, a key U.S. ally and modernizing monarch, in a cynical and stupid attempt to hop aboard the Islamist bandwagon, Carter's philosophical heir to the Oval Office, President Barack Hussein Obama, is preparing to betray Israel and realign with one of the world's most monstrous regimes in a craven attempt to pacify the Middle East and halt the resurgence of the Taliban and Al Qaeda--and prevent them from seizing Pakistan's insecure nuclear arsenal.

In fact, the betrayal of Israel (and India and Egypt) has already begun--by definition. As China Confidential predicted ahead of the 2008 Presidential election, Obama's so-called tough, principled diplomacy with Iran is giving the Islamist nation the time it needs to achieve its nuclear objectives. The U.S. has ruled out the military option; oil-rich Iran is practically immune to sanctions; there is no logical reason for Iran to do anything except play with words in order to play for time and extract the maximum possible concessions from a weakened Washington.

The Obama administration is willing (a) to guarantee Iran's security with a U.S. pledge of non-interference, similar to the promise given to the Communist regime in Havana after the Cuban Missile Crisis, and (b) to live with a nuclearized Iran or an Iran permanently poised on the threshold of nuclear power--meaning, a country with long-range ballistic missiles that can mass-produce atomic warheads and bombs at will but supposedly chooses not to step over that line, or threshold, for reasons of enlightened self-interest.

Enlightened tyranny? Moderate Islamism? Whatever. Welcome to Obamanation....

AFP reports:

The United States no longer seeks "regime change" in Iran, and Tehran should respond accordingly by embracing President Barack Obama's overtures, a top US senator said Wednesday.

"We are not in 'regime change' mode," Democrat John Kerry, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee told a hearing exploring the prospects for Obama's new policy of engaging the Islamic republic.

"Our efforts must be reciprocated by the other side: Just as we abandon calls for regime change in Tehran and recognize a legitimate Iranian role in the region, Iran's leaders must moderate their behavior and that of their proxies, Hezbollah and Hamas," said Kerry.

Kerry said his panel would release a report this week on the state of Tehran's suspect nuclear program, which Washington and its European partners fear aims to develop an atomic arsenal.

Kerry indicated that the document would underline the need for diplomacy backed by the threat of tougher sanctions or possibly the use of force, but a committee aide said it may not be made public.

India and Israel Planning for the Worst

India is contingency-planning its own answer to a Taliban/Al Qaeda takeover of neighboring, nuclear-armed Pakistan--possible preemptive military action to prevent the country's nuclear warheads and missiles from falling into Islamist hands.

Among other moves, India is cooperating closely with Israel. Both countries are existentially threatened by Islamist atomic arms. israel could covertly assist a preemptive Indian invasion of Pakistan, which was part of India until 1947, when it gained independence from British rule and Muslim-majority areas were partitioned to form a separate state of Pakistan.

In recent years, Israel has provided India with military technology and counter-terrorism training assistance; and India has supplied Israel with useful intelligence on Al Qaeda and Iran, with which India has diplomatic relations and strong trade ties.

The United States is opposed to Indian-Israeli military cooperation. In sharp contrast with previous U.S. administrations, the Obama administration does not see Israel as a strategic ally; increasingly, in fact, the Jewish State is ignored, its advice and intelligence disregarded.

All of which is incredibly ironic, given many American Jews' slavish devotion to the Democratic Party, an affiliation bordering on religious zeal in the case of dyed-in-the-wool, Jewish liberals and leftists (such as Obama Senior Adviser David Axelrod). But that's another story.

Iran and Obama's War of Necessity

The Obama administration believes it may need Iranian assistance or cooperation for a limited war of necessity--an American military intervention in Pakistan to secure the country's nuclear arsenal. Hence, the "grand bargain" that America's defense secretary, Robert M. Gates, denies is in the works and China Confidential analysts insist is actually taking shape in spite of some setbacks.

At the very least, the administration is working on a Big Deal--with the devil--an expedient meeting of minds with nuclear-arming, Shiite Islamist Iran to prevent Pakistan's nuclear warheads from falling into the hands of the Sunni Islamist Taliban and Al Qaeda.

Pakistan's military is showing signs of crumbling; its intelligence services are riddled with Islamists and Islamist sympathizers. There are more questions than answers concerning the country's nuclear stockpiles.

Stalin or Hitler?

Prediction: in the coming days and weeks, administration officials and its friends in Congress and in the media will begin comparing the present crisis to World War II. They will try to analogize aligning with Iran to America's wartime alliance with Soviet Russia. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be painted as the new Stalin--Mahmoud as the new Uncle Joe, a brutal despot but not an insatiable imperialist, regardless of his country's totalitarian ideology. Some officials will even suggest that just as the United States learned to live with a nuclear-armed Soviet Union after the war, Washington can, if need be, find a way to abide or coexist with (live with but not accept, according to the Brzezinski formulation) a nuclear-armed Iran or an Iran forever at the nuclear threshold--clearly capable of but never actually making nuclear weapons.

In fact, Ahmadinejad is a new Hitler. Unlike the monster Stalin, who, in the years leading up to World War II, consistently put the Soviet Union's national interest, as he saw it, ahead of the country's Communist ideology, to the point of betraying overseas Communists (his "useful idiots") and the cause of world revolution--from China to Germany--Ahmadinejad intends to overthrow the balance of power, globally as well as regionally, by destroying Israel, driving America (the "Great Satan") out of the Middle East, and dominating the region for decades to come--for starters. He dreams of a "world without America and Israel" and he intends to make his dreams come true.

Nearly eight years after Al Qaeda, operating from a safe haven in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, carried out the worst-ever attacks on American soil, the enemy is not only undefeated and unbowed, but ascendant, and on the verge of acquiring atomic warheads and missiles through the overthrow of a compromised and corrupt American ally.

US Diplomat Lumps Israeli and Indian Nuclear Deterrents in with Proliferating, Menacing Arsenals

On April 9, China Confidential warned:

AFP reports:
A top US arms control negotiator at the United Nations has urged presumed atomic powers India, Israel, Pakistan and North Korea to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

"Universal adherence to the NPT itself, including by India, Israel, Pakistan and North Korea ... remains a fundamental objective of the United States," said Assistant Secretary of State Rose Gottemoeller.

In the coming weeks, the U.S. and other countries, including Turkey and China, will increasingly lump Israeli and Indian nuclear deterrents in with the menacing arsenals of proven proliferators North Korea and Pakistan--assuming the latter country does not collapse under Taliban pressure.

As the Taliban/Al Qaeda threat to Pakistan grows almost by the hour, concerned citizens from New Delhi to New York are questioning increasingly incredible assurances that the predominantly Muslim country's nuclear weapons are somehow secure. Inquiring minds want to know....

1. What role did China play in the establishment of Pakistan's nuclear weapons development infrastructure?

2. What nuclear technology did China transfer to Pakistan?

3. What nuclear materials did China supply Pakistan?

4. How many nuclear warheads does Pakistan have? Estimates range from 90 to 250.

5. How are the warheads deployed?

6. What are Pakistan's plutonium production capabilities?

7. What are Pakistan's uranium enrichment capabilities?

Is China Confidential Wrong? US Defense Chief Denies Washington Seeks Grand Bargain with Iran

Although he did not specifically refer to China Confidential, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said Tuesday that we have the U.S.-Iran engagement story wrong. There is no grand bargain afoot between the United States and the Islamist nation, he told reporters in Cairo Tuesday.

"I think concerns out there of some kind of a grand bargain developed in secret are completely unrealistic," he said.

Click here to read the April 14 China Confidential essay, "Great Game, Grand Bargain: Iran is In, Israel is Out." An excerpt follows:

In order to win a great game, a nation must be willing to enter into a grand bargain, even if it means bargaining with the devil.

That is the thinking that seems to be guiding the Obama administration's approach to the Middle East, Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan.

Fearing that Pakistan could collapse, the Obama administration is seeking a radically new relationship--a "grand bargain"-- with Iran, according to Washington insiders familiar with the administration's reasoning.

In a sense, the administration is harking back to the 1950s and '60s, when Iran and Turkey, two non-Arab, predominantly Muslim countries, were the pillars of U.S. policy in the Middle East. The idea of Israel as a strategic U.S. partner, which Jerusalem naturally promoted and benefitted from, did not really take hold until the late 1970s and the '80s.

The fact that Iran in the '50s, '60s and '70s was ruled by a pro-American, modernizing monarch--the Shah--who was also a tacit ally of Israel is conveniently overlooked by the Obama administration. Also ignored: six decades of failed attempts to manipulate and manage radical Islam, dating to the Eisenhower administration's covert backing of Muslim Brotherhood extremists in Egypt against the country's popular, pan-Arab leader, Gamal Abdel Nasser.

China Confidential sources assert that the Obama administration sees Iran as a potential counterweight to Pakistan in the event that its government is overthrown by Islamists and its nuclear arsenal falls into the wrong hands--a nightmarish development that previous U.S. administrations had depicted as highly improbable. Should that happen, the U.S. would have to quickly consider launching preemptive military strikes against Pakistan's nuclear sites--a scenario that horrifies the Obama administration.

UPDATE: Israel is not the only country concerned that the U.S. may be abandoning friends and allies in order to appease Iran and its proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah, and ally, Syria. Click here for the story.

Gates Appealing to Saudis for Help in Pakistan

As if to confirm the China Confidential analysis that nuclear-armed Pakistan is close to collapsing, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates is appealing to Saudi Arabia for help. Click here for the report.

Together with Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, a family business passing itself off as a country, co-created the Taliban. The dreaded, medieval, Al Qaeda-aligned, Islamist group now threatens to take over Pakistan--and its nuclear arms.
