Dear "Chosen" Activists:
Though there is much to write, this will be brief. The Pope already landed in Jordan amidst much controversy, as the media he is getting reminds everyone of the Holocaust and the Vatican's role in it, his remarks towards Islam and the minefield of politics he's walking into. Just google the news and see for yourself. Also, try Googling Shalom International vs. the Pope, which is the tip of what's out there.
We've already done Arutz Sheva Radio and TV (see video below), ACT News Network out of Canada for an interview on Ben Yehuda and also Polish TV of me holding our sign: "Keep Jerusalem United." Sunday begins the media mayhem.
There is much controversy here regarding the Pope's visit, and we are expecting a good rally/reaction and media coverage. Our timing here has been right all along, and we thank
www.nofzion.co.il for making this trip possible. Also, thanks to Susan Wright for her help leafleting. Her approach is the 'faith over fear' and why the dilemma. Also, thanks to 'Rocky' who speaks Hebrew, which has helped me get the flyers into people's hands and get their support. Also, thanks to Ted Belman, Buddy Macy and everyone helping to get our statements out, which is a great mitzvah.

Shalom International organizer Bob Kunst explains, “Jerusalem belongs to the Jews, for 3000 years, and forever. It doesn't belong to the pope or to anyone else, and we're not here to divide it.” Please watch the following video:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Shalom International's Rally Message to Pope: "Hands Off Jerusalem"
Contact: Bob Kunst in Jerusalem at
050-2000296. Kunst and others will be in front of the media center in Jerusalem on May 10th at 11 a.m. for interviews. They will also be leafleting on Ben Yehuda from 1-3 p.m.
Shalom International (please see
www.defendjerusalem.net) has, since Oct. 2007, done 108 peaceful rallies and 900 news interviews to "Keep Jerusalem United" and to "Fight Terrorism-Support Israel," and we have our police permit for May 11th from 4-6 p.m. at Zion Sq., when the Pope will be in Israel, to "Rally to Keep Jerusalem United."
For background, we led the rallies at 'Annapolis', a dozen rallies at the White House, the General Assembly of 3000 Jewish leaders in Nashville, AIPAC in D.C., Israeli Consulates in NY and Miami, both Dem. and GOP National Conventions in Denver and St. Paul, the lst Presidential Debate in Oxford, Miss., a march to the Holocaust Memorial in Wash., in Phila., and 2000 were with us at the Holocaust Memorial on Miami Beach, 1/4/09. Also - rallies at the UN 3 times, Boca Raton three times, Miami four times, the Broward County Federal Bldg. to oppose the pro-Hamas folks screaming "Jews into the ovens" as seen on YouTube and 30 rallies at the Federal Bldg. since, on every Tuesday, with Jews, Christians, Hindus, Blacks, Whites, young and old. We've become family. From Tallahassee, Orlando and Melbourne, Fla. we have also done great and successful rallies and have received excellent media attention.
We also printed 10,000 bumper stickers and a few thousand buttons that say, with both Israeli and American flags on them: "Keep Jerusalem United," and have put together quite a coalition of grassroots supporters, in addition to a number of key officials who have been with us, such as the Mayor of Miami Beach.
Shalom International was in Geneva to oppose "Durban II" and to support Israel and to Rally for Israel, Human Rights and Peace and as a co-sponsor of both the conference (we had a table and met Natan Sharansky there) and rally at the UN. We were also interviewed by Swiss and Portuguese TV and Al Jazeera, and our banners were videotaped by Italian, Arabic and many other media. Israel's Consul General in Paris posed for a picture with our "Remember the Holocaust" poster at a rally to stop the genocide in Darfur. At the Rally for Israel, our 10 ft. banner read: "Fight Terrorism, Support Israel," and we got a terrific reaction, lots of media and the Exec. Dir. of B'Nai Brith and his board took photos with us and our banner, plus a member of the French Parliament.
We wish to welcome the Pope to the Capital of the Jewish People for 3000 yrs. and forever, that is not for sale and is not negotiable.
We wish to take this message to the thousands of media who will be here to cover the Pope, while taking our message to the world community, the Vatican, the EU, the UN, the U.S. and the Muslim world, and give Israel critically-needed good press and tell our side of the story for a change -- that of truth and reality.
This is a huge opportunity to make a very positive statement. In the media war, Israel needs a great deal of help in fighting pro-Arab propaganda, and we are experts in it. Our efforts reflect the grassroots commitment to keeping Jerusalem United.
