Would Obama Have Engaged Hitler's Grand Mufti?

There is a direct line from the Nazi-loving Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini,to Hitlerian Hamas, which the Obama administration is bent on engaging/appeasing.

The Mufti was the most prominent Arab in Palestine during the British Mandatory period.

During World War II, he landed in Berlin, where he met with Hitler, established his own Reich-backed bureau and was given airtime on Radio Berlin in order to agitate for international Jewish destruction, as well as a pan-Islamic alliance with Nazi Germany.

The Mufti called upon all Muslims to "kill the Jews wherever you see them." He raised three divisions of Islamic Waffen SS, including Iranian Nazis, to massacre Jews in Bosnia.

After the war, the Mufti fled to Switzerland, was detained and put under house arrest in France, but escaped and was given asylum in Egypt, where he established a terrorist apparatus that was responsible for the assassination of Jordanian King Abdullah in 1951.

The British declined to have the Mufti arrested and tried as a war criminal out of fear of antagonizing a hero of Arab and Muslim extremism. He died in Beirut, Lebanon in 1974.

Testimony presented at the Nuremberg trials accused the Mufti of not only having knowledge about the Holocaust but of also actively encouraging the initiation of extermination programs against European Jews.

Adolf Eichmann's deputy Dieter Wisliceny (who was subsequently executed) testified at his 1946 war crimes trial: "The Mufti was one of the initiators of the systematic extermination of European Jewry and had been a collaborator and adviser of Eichmann and Himmler in the execution of this plan... He was one of Eichmann’s best friends and had constantly incited him to accelerate the extermination measures. I heard him say, accompanied by Eichmann, he had visited incognito the gas chambers of Auschwitz."

IBD on Obama's Wishful Thinking

Issues and insights on Iran's Islamist election....

A handful of presidential candidates preapproved by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei vied for Iranians' votes on Friday. Final results on whether incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or his main rival, former prime minister Mir Hossein Mousavi, is the victor are yet to come.

Intense media focus on the contest is misleading many to believe a Mousavi win would be good news. But would it?

Unfortunately, those in the forefront of spreading delusional wishful thinking about this election can be found at the highest levels of the Obama administration.

According to the president, speaking with reporters at the White House on Friday, there "appears to be a robust debate taking place in Iran" that "hopefully will help advance our ability to engage them in new ways." He said, "you're seeing people looking at new possibilities," and "we think there's the possibility of change."

Not to be outdone in the breezy optimism, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called it "a very positive sign that the people of Iran want their voices and their votes to be heard and counted."

Of course, every country's people want their views listened to and their ballots accurately tallied. That "positive sign" has been the case in Iran, whose people are among the most modern in the Muslim world, for 30 years of Islamist revolutionary rule and longer.

But their obvious aspirations for liberty and prosperity are beside the real point: namely, that the illusion of a new, supposedly centrist president could easily lull the world even further away from the reality that this Islamofascist regime is — and will continue to be — on a fast track toward possession of nuclear weapons.

Unlock America's Oil!

Sign the Petition to Unlock America's Energy. Click here.

Why do we import so much oil when 112 billion barrels of it lie untapped right here in America? Domestic oil and gas production is safer, more stable, and it’s possible. And it reduces our reliance on foreign oil in a highly competitive global market. Shouldn’t we be using our own energy resources?

The Partnership for America’s Energy Security believes in stronger, more forward-thinking energy policies. We believe domestic oil and gas production will make America’s future stronger. Join our fight by signing our petition for domestic energy production!
