THE RACISM AND ANTI-LIBERALISM OF ABORTION By Dennis L. Cuddy, Ph.D. [Note: Those who today say we are descending into Marxist Socialism are ridiculed as being conspiracy alarmists. However, if anyone should know about Marxist Socialism, it’s Pravda, and Stanislav Mishin’s article “American Capitalism Gone With A Whimper” (Pravda, April 27, 2009) reads as follows: “The American descent into Marxism is happening with breathtaking speed, against the backdrop of a passive, hapless sheeple [people]…. True, the situation has been well-prepared on and off for the past century.” Mishin then explains the testing ground occurred in Russia via Wall Street money “poured into the fists of Marxists. Those lessons were taken and used properly to prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters. First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system…. Then their faith in God was destroyed…. The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama…. His spending and money printing has been record setting…. If this keeps up for more than another year… America at best will resemble the Weimar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe… Congress has put up little more than a whimper to their masters…. In the land of ‘pure’ free markets, the American president now has the power, the self-given power, to fire CEOs (e.g., General Motors)…. The American president… and another group of unelected chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantor of automobile policies…. Prime Minister Putin, less than two months ago, warned Obama and UK’s Blair not to follow the path to Marxism. It leads only to disaster. Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western-sponsored horror show, we know nothing, as foolish, drunken Russians, so let our ‘wise’ Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their pride. Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper.” Mishin then refers to Senator Barney Frank “and his Marxist enlightenment,” and concludes by saying: “The proud American will go down into his slavery without a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world how free he really is. The world will only snicker.”] President Barack Obama recently delivered the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame amid protestations regarding his position that women should be able violently to kill their babies in the womb (abortion). Although Obama is an African-American, he apparently doesn’t recognize (or doesn’t care enough about) the racist element of abortion. A disproportionate number of America’s abortions – about 2½ times their numbers in population – are performed on blacks. Although most financial supporters of organizations favoring abortion rights aren’t racist, former Planned Parenthood president Faye Wattleton (1986 Humanist of the Year) has said, “We have received contributions from people who want to support us because they want… all black women to stop having children.” The press would severely criticize any political candidate who admitted something like this. It’s a sad statistic that also shows a disproportionate number of tax-funded abortions here are performed on poor blacks, and even notable black liberals like Dick Gregory have called subsidies for abortion-on-demand nothing more than a calculated program of “black genocide.” A legislator once said to me that he questioned whether some of his colleagues had a racist attitude of “getting rid of those black welfare babies before they get here.” And Erma Craven, a black and former chairwoman of Minneapolis’ Commission on Human Relations, has remarked: “Now the womb of the black woman is seen as the latest battleground for oppression…. Now that power is near, the ‘masters’ want us to call a moratorium on having babies. When looked at in context, the whole mess adds up to blatant genocide.” How is this racism facilitated? Many poor blacks are intimidated into having abortions, and the “intimidation takes the form of implicit and explicit threats that welfare payments will be cut off if the recipient has more children,” according to respected black Pittsburgh physician Dr. Charles Greenlee. Before racist whites continue to promote abortions for poor black women, perhaps they will reflect upon the experience of the renowned black actress and gospel singer, Ethel Waters. Conceived as a result of a knifepoint rape when her mother was only 12 years old, she lived among prostitutes, junkies and alcoholics, and stole food to live. She grew up ‘tough’ but with a love for life, and helped many blacks receive a chance on Broadway, radio, television and in motion pictures. She supported her mother all her life, and reared over twenty girls. In her autobiography, His Eye Is On The Sparrow, Waters described herself as her mother’s “unwanted one, conceived in terror and violence, and against her will.” She continued, “There are not regrets, not even sighs. Only joy and thanksgiving to the Lord for this life He gave me. For I was born naked and hungry, and He fed me and clothed me and made me strong enough to make my way on my own. And there is no greater gift of destiny.” Instead of telling poor blacks they should have abortions, the eminent black surgeon Dr. Mildred Jefferson has suggested that society ask these women what they need or want for themselves. One truly inspiring example has been a family of physicians, whose black-owned Williams Clinic in Chicago has aimed to care for and counsel the black families in the community. That no abortions are performed at the Clinic reflects the commitment of the Williamses (and the other physicians there) “to nurture life and not destroy it,” as explained by Dr. Jasper Williams, Sr. All Americans, especially black ministers and doctors, should encourage support for poor black women so that the racism of abortion will no longer plague this nation whose founding document, The Declaration of Independence, states: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life….” President Obama is also a liberal, who apparently likewise doesn’t realize that choosing to kill one’s child (abortion) is a perversion of the traditional liberal respect for life. This “choice to kill” mentality is more properly the domain of the “population controllers,” against whom truly compassionate liberals have struggled for years. Modern population control perhaps began with eugenicist Marquis de Sade (from which the term “sadist” comes), who in his 1795 Philosophie dans le Boudoir said that it was necessary to utilize induced abortion for social reasons to control the population. Against the growth of this attitude, noted American feminists (liberals) Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton spoke out in a publication called The Revolution. In the July 8, 1869 edition, Anthony referred to abortion as “child murder.” And in the February 5, 1968 edition, Stanton considered both the killing of newborns and abortion as “infanticide.” Today, we often hear individuals justifying abortions by saying the children are “unwanted.” This clearly reveals that most abortions are procured for selfish reasons, and selfishness is not in the best liberal tradition, which opposes killing as a means of solving our social problems. While liberals plead with society not to give the “death penalty” to rapists, it would be the height of hypocrisy for them simultaneously to tolerate the “death penalty” of abortion for the innocent preborn child who might have resulted from rape. There are liberal columnists such as Nat Hentoff of The Village Voice and The Washington Post who have vigorously defended the prolife position. When former governor Mario Cuomo asked Hentoff to define when human life begins, the columnist simply suggested he look at any biology textbook. Obviously, human life begins at conception, because while everyone was once a zygote, no one was ever an unfertilized ovum or a sperm. Even among our judiciary, there is prolife precedent. In one of the more liberal Midwestern states, the Iowa State Supreme Court on June 17, 1987, ruled in an insurance claim dispute that “a minor child includes an unborn child” who is “a covered person within the scope of the policy.” Do you think President Obama would ever sit down with his daughters and tell them he believes their mother should have been able to tear apart their bodies or scald their lungs with saline or crush their skulls and suck out their brains by abortion if she wanted to do that? I doubt it! For the sake of his immortal soul, though, someone should remind him that Proverbs 6:16-17 says God hates the shedding of innocent blood, and that Jeremiah 1:5 says that before God formed us in the womb, He knew us. What this means is that before God formed Barack Obama in the womb, God knew him, not just a blob of tissue that later might become him. If Obama’s mother had aborted him, she would have killed an innocent baby as such already known to God. No verbal gymnastics or rationalizations by abortion proponents can alter this fact. For President Obama to support the abortion (killing) of babies is saying to God not “Thy will be done” but rather “My will be done.” This is exactly what Lucifer said to God, and Lucifer is in the Acknowledgments of Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky, Barack Obama’s community organizing mentor.
