Following are excerpts from the Friday, June 19, 2009 sermon in Tehran by Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei; in it, he stressed that election fraud in Iran was impossible, that "if anyone has any doubt and presents evidence, this... will be dealt with only through legal channels"; and that "after all, in every elections, there are winners and losers." Also posted below are transcripts from two interviews on the issue of the election in Iran – one with the representative of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Syria, Mojtaba Al-Hosseini, and the second with Iranian filmmaker Samira Makhmalbaf. Al-Hosseini said in his interview, which aired on Al-Dunya TV on June 20, 2009, that the West is behind the demonstrations in Iran and that they are "exaggerating what is going on beyond its real scope (to view this clip, visit http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/2150.htm ).
In her interview, Samira Makhmalbaf stated that the Iranian people "cannot make their voice heard, because communications with all other countries have been cut off" and that "the only thing that the Iranians have now is their souls, and they are sacrificing their souls in defense of Iran..." She added that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad "has soiled the streets of Iran with the blood of our people... [he is] leading the region to war."
