This damned Treaty-Constitution is a long time dying.  But while our government supinely lets the EU take our independence from us and wrecks our economic powerhouse too, more doughty fighters in Poland in the Czech Republic and in Germany don’t submit so easily.

Czech senators to challenge Lisbon treaty again in two weeks

Prague, July 10 (CTK) - The Lisbon treaty opponents from among Czech senators are completing their constitutional complaint against the document, one of them, Jiri Oberfalzer, told Czech Radio (CRo) Friday, adding that the complaint might be lodged with the Constitutional Court in the first half of August.

Oberfalzer (Civic Democrats, ODS) said that the required 17 senators have joined the initiative and several others are ready as "a reserve."

To take effect, the Lisbon treaty reforming the EU institutions need to be ratified by all EU member states. In Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland it has been approved by parliaments but it is yet to be signed by the heads of state.

Czech President Vaclav Klaus recently said he wants to be the last in Europe to decide on his position. He wants to wait for the results of the Irish referendum and for the Czech Constitutional Court verdict.

Some Czech politicians have shown displeasure at Klaus's approach. Social Democrat (CSSD) senator Alena Gajduskova previously said that the Lisbon treaty advocates would use constitutional methods to change Klaus's position if he refused to sign the treaty.

Former Czech Constitutional Court judge Vojtech Cepl some time ago said that if he were to deal with the senators' planned complaint, he would right reject it as unsubstantiated because the court had already discussed the treaty's compatibility with the Czech constitution last November.

The judges then found no discrepancies between the Lisbon treaty and the Czech constitutional order. However, they discussed only some of the treaty's provisions challenged by senators.

EU treaty ‘not legal’

European Parliament ... German judges called the EU treaty an illegal power grab

MPs were urged to stand up to Brussels last night — after German judges called the EU treaty an illegal power grab.

Berlin’s highest court said the document robs nations of the right to set laws on defence, taxes, the police, education, media and culture.
Judges demanded its parliament be allowed to overrule Brussels — and will delay bringing the treaty into law. Think tank Open Europe said: “British MPs need to wake up — and demand the same powers.”

THE SUN SAYS----
EU arrogance

THE loathed EU Constitution is not worth the paper it is written on. So say Germany's most powerful judges.

In a sensational, groundbreaking verdict, they ruled Brussels would be acting illegally if it tried to seize sovereign power from member states.

Only elected governments have the right to decide economic, defence or foreign policy.

That means NO European Army. NO control over criminal law. NO meddling in our police, welfare, education or media policies.

And, crucially, NO overriding power to control tax or spending.

Germany even rejects the EU Parliament as a democratic body - pointing out that it does not even have a proper Opposition.

This must surely put paid forever to the grandiose dream of a European superstate? Fat chance.

"Europe will, despite numerous setbacks and crises, continue to progress as an alliance of states in the process of integration whether the court likes it or not," snorted Germany's ex-Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer.

Such high-handed contempt is now the EU's ugly trademark.

Arrogant Eurocrats simply don't take No for an answer.

That's why they forced the Danish people to vote twice over the Euro.

They trampled on the express wishes of France and Holland to reject the Constitution.

Now they have insultingly ordered the Irish people to reverse last year's devastating No.

Will Ireland do as it's told? Or dare we hope they will use this last chance to kill the wretched Constitution stone dead?
