Thursday, 23 July 2009 Mandelson's Empire: 35 Cabinet Committee Posts 'Lord Mandelson, who also holds the title of First Secretary of State, has an input on policy on everything from swine flu to the Olympics, climate change to Afghanistan. He is a member of 80 per cent of the 43 Cabinet committees and subcommittees, sitting on more than either the Prime Minister, the Chancellor or the Foreign Secretary. These include areas such as health, immigration, trade, Africa, crime, flood planning, and food. Thursday, 23 July 2009 Doctors Warn Avoid Genetically Modified Food 'The American Academy of Environmental Medicine states,"Genetically Modified foods have not been properly tested and pose a serious health risk. There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation."  Last May the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) called on "Physicians to educate their patients, the medical community, and the public to avoid GM (genetically modified) foods when possible and provide educational materials concerning GM foods and health risks." Thursday, 23 July 2009 Kucinich: ‘Is the Fed Paying Banks Not to Loan Money?’ 'Before the committee — which assembled Tuesday to hear the testimony of Neil Barofsky the Special Inspector General for TARP, along with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke — Kucinich wondered aloud if “banks are parking a historic amount of taxpayers’ money in the Federal Reserve while the businesses and consumers across America are starved for credit,” and whether the Federal Reserve is paying banks to avoid making loans. To support his line of questioning, he cited a Bloomberg report which noted that “banks’ excess reserves at the Fed rose to a record $877.1 billion daily average in the two weeks ended May 20, from $2 billion a year earlier.' By mid-June, his drug company, Novartis, announced an early release of the Swine flu vaccine with just enough time to be run through a quick trial or two. Earlier this week, just two months after the Athens meeting of the power elite, the U.S. federal government committed to $690-million in swine flu vaccines from Novartis. Let's take just a minute to look at a pixel of the history of Novartis.   According to the Encyclopedia Britannica "Novartis was created in 1996 from the merger of Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz Laboratories, both Swiss companies with long histories." Both companies (Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz) were originally German entities and integral pillars of the massive Rothschild and Rockefeller "Syndicate of Dyestuff-Industry Corporations". Thursday, 23 July 2009 Bottled Water Companies Win Fluoride Battle 'Anti-fluoride advocate Keith Oakley denounced the move to add fluoride to bottled water, saying it would make it harder for him and his colleagues to access water. He said the move would also backfire. "If they want to put fluoride in there, then that's their problem. But bottled water sales will go down," he said. "It's a bit disappointing but at the very least it should be labelled so I can still buy non-fluoridated water".' Read more...
