Jihadists Recruiting Openly in Chicago Suburb
Steven Emerson reports:Hizb ut-Tahrir, an international movement seeking to re-establish an international Islamic state - or Caliphate - and to indoctrinate Muslims into supporting jihad, wants to step up its recruitment efforts in the United States. On July 19, the group, whose alumni include 9/ 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad and suicide bombers, will hold a conference titled "The Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Islam" in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel in Oak Lawn, Ill, a Chicago suburb.

Mousavi Planning Political 'Front'
Iranian opposition leader Mir-Hossein Mousavi is said to be planning a grouping, known as a "front," which would have most of the rights of an officially allowed political party. Click here for the story. One right that his front would not have: the right to organize and stage rallies and protests, no matter how peaceful.
No matter. China Confidential analysts say the reformists have been eclipsed by the people--millions of Iranians of all classes and ethnicities who yearn for an end to the whole Islamist system.
Tragically, they have been abandoned by the United States and Europe. The so-called international community is a joke; the United Nations, a reincarnation of the League of Nations. Regime change is not in the cards, barring a miraculous upheaval or coup in Iran. Appeasement of the nuclear-arming regime--practically an article of faith, under cover of engagement--is the order of the day in Washington. War is inevitable; and appeasement is assuring that the conflict will be conducted according to the terms and timetable of the turbaned tyranny.Al Qaeda Threatens to Attack China
For the first time, too, the United States and Al Qaeda have lined up on the same side--to defend restive, separatist Muslims in Xinjiang. Shocking but true....
When the history of the era is written (assuming there will still be historians) the failure of the U.S. to forge an alliance with China and Russia in the immediate aftermath of the (Saudi-financed) Al Qaeda attacks of 9/11, in order to utterly destroy and defeat radical Islam, or Islamism, will be seen as a monumental strategic failure. Instead of uniting against a common enemy, the three powers have each in its own way and for its own reasons tried to accommodate--and appease--and align with Islamist forces and factions.Gas Pipeline a Victory for US, Turkey ... and Iran
As United States-Iran engagement draws closer, it is no longer an issue of "whether" or "if", but of "when" it is that European companies can tap Iran's massive gas reserves. The current US position is that it will not support Iran's involvement in Nabucco until Tehran "changes its policies."

Click here for the in-depth, analytical report--the sort of journalism that unfortunately has no home in America's hopelessly celebrity- and crisis-driven, so-called prestige press.
The article is must reading on many levels ... including the fact that it provides further confirmation of the China Confidential analysis, which is that the Obama administration is seeking to appease and align with Islamist Iran, Islamist-leaning Turkey, and Islamism in general in order to counter and gain economic and strategic advantages against resurgent Russia (and rising China). The administration's policy, packaged in the context of Obama's obsession with dialogue and diplomacy (as ends, not means), has its roots in the late 1800s, when Britain unsuccessfully sought to use political Islam against Czarist Russia.
History has shown time and again that those who try to ride the Islamist tiger typically end up being eaten by it. Three examples: America's anti-Soviet intervention in Afghanistan on the side of jihadist warlords, which helped bring about the Soviet crackup but also led to the rise of Al Qaeda and the unleashing of the Saudi-financed, global Islamist menace; the catastrophic Carter administration's betrayal of the Shah of Iran in a craven attempt to hop aboard the Islamist bandwagon of the Ayatollah Khomeini; and Israel's tolerance of and tacit alliance with Hamas, in its formative stages, in order to counter the secular, nationalist PLO. Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin reportedly referred to the covert tilt toward Hamas as a "fatal error" shortly before his assassination.Monday, July 13, 2009
