Report: Caspian Air Crash in Iran Caused by Explosion of Fuses Being Shipped to Hezbollah
China Confidential reported on July 16 that sabotage was suspected in the Caspian Air crash in Iran that claimed 168 lives.
An Italian newspaper reports that the crash was caused by an explosion of fuses the passenger plane was secretly carrying for delivery to Iran's Islamist Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah, and that a number of Revolutionary Guards Corps members were among the crash victims. Click here for the story.
China Confidential intelligence experts believe the explosion was manmade and intentional, not accidental. Iran is likely to blame Israeli intelligence for the disaster; but China Confidential sources suspect the crash was the result of an Iranian plot, possibly undertaken by conservative rivals of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, or a secret organization of regular armed forces officers.
There is increasing concern on the part of the Iranian regime that elements of the regular armed forces could rise up against the Guards Corps.
