Essay by Ex-Saudi Spy Boss Blasts Obama
Apparently, the bowing and apologizing has not done much good....
A former Saudi diplomat and intelligence chief--who was in charge of managing the Kingdom's relationship with Al Qaeda before 9/11--has bylined an article that blasts U.S. President Obama for daring to call for U.S. energy independence. Prince Turki Al-Faisal calls the talk "demagoguery." Click here to read his article in Foreign Policy.
Ironically, he has little to fear. The Obama administration is anti-domestic oil and gas, and anti-coal--even though the U.S. is the Saudi Arabia of coal. But there are no real alternatives to oil and gas for motor transport fuel and residential and commercial space heating; and to coal and nuclear power for electricity generation. Solar, wind, biofuels, and biomass will do little to reduce U.S. dependence on imported oil; and the world will continue to run on oil for at least the next two decades, according to most energy experts and analysts.
Green energy can make a contribution; but its importance has been greatly exaggerated by crowd-pleasing politicians--and, well, demagogues, and zealots who are bent on preventing the U.S. from developing its untapped oil and gas reserves--and unlocking its awesome coal potential--in the name of "saving the planet."
The U.S. is the only nation on earth that is choking off its own energy supplies and pursuing policies that are actually designed to increase energy prices across the board.Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Obama Backers Target Judge Over Hijab
The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations will join the woman as a plaintiff in the lawsuit, in which Callahan and the county will be named as defendants, Ayad said. The lawsuit is to be detailed at a 2 p.m. news conference today at the council's office in Southfield.
Melanie Elturk, a staff attorney at the council, said Callahan's actions violate the constitutional right to freedom of religion and a statement President Barack Obama made in a June address about the right of Muslim women to wear the hijab.

Question: Will Obama speak out?
Probably not. It seems that Buddhist life is cheap ... like Christian life ... and Jewish life ... when it is taken by Muslims.

Obamanation!
In the wake of the disgraceful release of the Libyan airplane bomber, the United States and Libya are cooperating closely on the upcoming visit to the United Nations by the Libyan dictator. Interestingly, the news media have mainly accepted at face value the notion that there is something aggressive or inherently unjust and provocative about China encouraging Han Chinese to live in a mainly Muslim area--as if Xinjiang is not really part of China and Muslims must remain a dominant group. The same sort of criticism is leveled at China with respect to Tibet (and also at Israel, incidentally, with respect to allowing or encouraging Jews to reside in predominantly Arab sections of Israel's capital, Jerusalem, including the walled Old City, which is home to Judaism's holiest site, the Western Wall, and eastern Jerusalem, in general).
No wonder the Chinese government is suspicious of Western support for Uighur and Tibetan activists who assert that they only seek greater autonomy. One person's autonomy is often another's separatism.
