Malayasia Menaced by Fanatic Muslims

Will America's Muslim-Born President Speak Out for Freedom and Democracy?

Barack Hussein Obama is the first Muslim-born President of the United States, according to Islamic law, or sharia, which traces religion through the father. Tragically, he seems indifferent or, worse, sympathetic to the spread of sharia and right-wing political Islam, also known as radical Islam, or Islamism--a clerical fascist creed that has become practically synonymous with organized Islam itself.

Consider the case of Malaysia. It has long been viewed as model for a moderate and tolerant Islamic state. But that image is being challenged by Muslim fundamentalists who have staged protests and enforced harsh penalties for what they say are breaches of sharia.

Nazarudin Kamaruddin has become the latest Muslim to be ordered caned and jailed drinking alcohol in Malaysia.

His sentence follows a decision by authorities to review the punishment imposed on a Malaysian model who also drank beer. The review has postponed the sentence an Islamic court imposed on Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, the first woman in Malaysia to face caning.

Barbaric Beliefs

Islam forbids the consumption of alcohol. In Malaysia, however, only three out of 13 states make it a punishable offense for Muslims. The recent attempts to administer the cane have prompted moderates to call for an end to that punishment.

About 60 percent of Malaysia's 28 million people are Muslims. They are subject to sharia, while secular laws govern ethnic Chinese, Indians and other minorities.

The rise of Islamism worries minority groups--for good reason. There have been several recent cases in which non-Muslims complained that Sharia courts discriminated against them.

More concerning, many Malaysians say, have been public acts aimed at creating discord. Malaysians of all backgrounds were shocked when 50 Muslims recently took the bloodied head of a severed cow to the central Selangor state government office and trampled on it.

The protesters said they opposed the relocation of a Hindu temple to a Muslim-majority neighborhood.

The Other Side of the Coin

Missile-mad, nuclear-arming Iran is on the brink of becoming an existential threat to Israel.

But Israel is an existential threat to Iran. Israel has enough nuclear weapons to obliterate Iran--to lay waste to its population centers.

As the case for preemptive Israeli nuclear strikes on Iranian nuclear and missile installations grows stronger by the day, the Obama administration, which has allowed Iran an additional year to acquire atomic arms, and the United Nations should think long and hard about the corner into which they are painting the Jewish State.

Germany in Imminent Danger of Al Qaeda Attack

AFP reports:

The latest statement by Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden contains language considered a valid indicator of an upcoming attack, the IntelCenter US monitoring group said on Friday.

In an audio message posted on jihadist Internet forums on Friday, bin Laden called on European countries to end their alliance with the United States and withdraw their forces from Afghanistan, monitoring organisations said.

"This indicator when viewed in light of the five Abu Talha videos this year, three of which have been released in the last eight days and their focus on the upcoming elections in Germany, significantly raises the threat level even further," IntelCenter said.
"There is currently a very high threat of an attack occurring in Germany or against German interests in the immediate period and extending for at least the next four weeks. A single or multiple-stage attack may occur before, during or after the elections against a German target or targets," it said.

The audio message was contained in a near-five minute video from the As-Sahab media branch of Al-Qaeda showing only a still image of bin Laden, SITE Intelligence Group said, noting that English- and German-language subtitled versions of the video were posted.

The release of the statement comes two days before Sunday's German general election.

Countdown to Conflict: US, UK, France, Germany Demand Inspection of Secret Iranian Nuclear Plant

The United States, Britain, France and Germany demanded Iran allow nuclear inspectors to visit a heretofore secret uranium enrichment plant, warning of new sanctions if Tehran did not comply.

"Iran is breaking rules that all nations must follow," U.S. President Obama said Friday in Pittsburgh, where he is hosting the G-20 industrial nations summit. "It is time for Iran to act immediately to restore the confidence of the international community by fulfilling its international obligations."

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who joined Obama and French President Nicolas Sarkozy on the podium, threatened "further and more stringent sanctions" should Iran not cooperate with nuclear inspectors. Sarkozy said that the tougher sanctions could come by December.

Obama said the United States joined Britain and France in presenting evidence this week to the International Atomic Energy Agency of the second nuclear plant, near the Iranian holy city of Qom. Iran maintains another nuclear facility at Natanz.

Iran Insists it is Peaceful

Iran, apparently anticipating this week's revelations, on Monday wrote the IAEA acknowledging the second plant, but insisted that it was for peaceful purposes only. Obama said the second plant's size was "inconsistent" with such purposes and that in any case, as a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, it was required to reveal the existence of any such facility; the Qom plant has apparently been in existence for years.

Obama said talks between Iran and the major powers would go ahead on Oct. 1, but "at that meeting Iran must be prepared to cooperate fully and comprehensivly with the IAEA."

Iran has resisted calls to discuss its nuclear research as part of the broader negotiations aimed at reconciliation; however, this week, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, said he was ready to make Iranian scientists availavle for interviews with inspectors.

Obama said he, Sarkozy and Brown were speaking for Germany as well. Those four powers plus Russia and China make up the major powers with which Iran is negotiating. Russia and China have until now resisted sanctions, although this week Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian president, said they may be inevitable.
