"Radical, Leftist Propaganda" Video Shown to Kids in Utah School - Video

Could this video be what President Obama has in mind when he speaks to America's school children next Tuesday, September 8, via a live broadcast?

This video, "I Pledge," was shown in a Utah school recently, and has been described as "radical, leftist propaganda."

A school principal has apologized for showing a video at an assembly that a politically conservative group leader is calling “radical, leftist propaganda.”

Children at Eagle Bay Elementary School in Farmington were shown a short video called “I pledge” on Aug. 28. The video opens with an image of President Barack Obama and part of a speech in which he says, “Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.” The video then features celebrities making pledges about how they will help the president and the world — and that’s where some say the problem lies…

… Gayle Ruzicka, president of conservative Utah Eagle Forum, said the video was blatantly political. She said other offensive pledges included,
“I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama,” “I pledge allegiance to the funk, to the united funk of funkadelica,” and pledges to not use plastic grocery bags and not flush the toilet after urinating. . . . . .MORE
Obama is being totally inept (to quote Dick Morris) politcally in what he is doing here. With his tendency to ego-worship and the cult-like following he has engendered, it is foolish for him to try and do the whole school children speech thing. He is going to get hammered big time for doing this, especially with videos like the one above floating around out there and being shown in some schools.

I saw on Greta VanSustern's show on FOXNews that the suggested lesson plans sent to the teachers for the students has been changed somewhat due to huge complaints from parents.

Instead of writing a letter to one's self describing how they could help the president, they will now be asked to write a letter to themselves how they will attaim their educational goals.

Instead of "how did the president's speech inspire me" it will be "were you inspired?"

Then I saw this:
WH deletes line about schoolkids helping Obama from speech prep material

As one of the preparatory materials for teachers provided by the Department of Education, students had been asked to, “Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. “

Today, after Republicans accused the White House of trying to indoctrinate school children with liberal propaganda the White House and the Department of Education changed the section to now read, “Write letters to themselves about how they can achieve their short‐term and long‐term education goals.”

“We changed it to clarify the language so the intent is clear,” said White House Spokesman Tommy Vietor…

“As the father of four children, I am absolutely appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama’s socialist ideology,” Jim Greer, Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida said, “The idea that school children across our nation will be forced to watch the President justify his plans for government-run health care, banks, and automobile companies, increasing taxes on those who create jobs, and racking up more debt than any other President, is not only infuriating, but goes against beliefs of the majority of Americans, while bypassing American parents through an invasive abuse of power.”

The Department of Education though did not “force” – as Greer claims – schools to do anything. Schools districts across the country have the option to choose if they show the President’s address to their students

“The goal of the speech and the lesson plans is to challenge students to work hard in school, to not drop out and to meet short-term goals like behaving in class, doing their homework and goals that parents and teachers alike can agree are noble,” a White House spokesman tells ABC News, “This isn’t a policy speech. This is a speech designed to encourage kids to stay in school.”

Sean Hannity and Michelle Malkin on Obama's School Speech; Plans to Use 9/11 to Push ObamaCare - Video 9/2/09

Video: http://www.freedomslighthouse.com/2009/09/sean-hannity-and-michelle-malkin-on.html

Here is video of Sean Hannity tonight talking with Michelle Malkin about President Obama's plan to speak to school children next week, on Tuesday, September 8.

He talked about Obama's ground troop organization - Organizing for America - and their plan to push for passage of Government Health Care on September 11.

Michelle Malkin says what Obama is now doing as President is consistent with his history of radical associations in Chicago. Malkin said Obama is seeking to use the school speech next week as a prop and tool to divert attention from his difficulties with Health Care. Malkin said he would deliver an innocuous speech, but the whole experience will serve Obama's purposes.

http://hotair.com/archives/2009/09/02/video-michelle-rips-obama-over-school-speech/   An interesting twist on the argument most critics have been making today: She’s not expecting the speech to be anything beyond innocuous “stay in school” stuff, but she worries that teachers will take the occasion as encouragement to get kids doing more politicized class assignments which Hopenchange can then use for cutesy PR. Surely the left isn’t that cynical, is it? As for the first part of the clip, dealing with the repulsive posting on Organizing for America, her point about a lefty climate of hate and Obama’s shocking failure to denounce it is well taken — but even so, it should be emphasized that that was a diary entry on the site, not something the administrators cooked up. That doesn’t excuse it, but it’s the difference between a dKos diarist posting something and Kos himself postng it. The former is merely a case of a nut exploiting someone else’s platform.
