TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps
(IRGC) said on Tuesday that the third generation of Iran's hi-tech
long-range Sejjil missiles displayed in the last phase of drills on Monday
enjoys a high capability in destroying specified targets.

"As a two-stage engine is used in the missile, it enjoys a proper range, a
very high destruction power and an extraordinary good targeting
precision...," Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Air Force General
Hossein Salami told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony to commemorate the Week of Sacred Defense, marking Iranian sacrifices during the 8 years of the Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the 1980s.

Referring to the mass-production of Sejjil missiles, he reiterated that it
will become one of the powerful and effective missiles in possession of the
Iranian
Armed Forces, specially the IRGC's Air Force.

Sejjil missiles, considered as the third generation of Iran-made long-range
missiles, were earlier displayed during the parades at the mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Republic, the Late
Imam Khomeini, in southern Tehran last week.

Also, in the last phase of two-day long missile exercises which started on
Sunday, the IRGC Air Force missile units tested the country's latest
achievement in missile technology and industry, i.e. the optimized version
of long-range Sejjil 2 missiles.

Iran successfully tested the second generation of Sejjil missiles and
brought it into mass production earlier this year.

The solid-fuel, two-stage Sejjil missile with two engines, is capable of
reaching a very high altitude and therefore has a longer range than that of
the Shahab 3 model.

The missile has boosted the Islamic Republic of Iran's defense capabilities.
