Israeli aircraft at air show
(Israelnationalnews.com) Top global aeronautics and aerospace firms will converge on Israel at the beginning and end of the year for business conferences large and small that will give a booster shot to the industry in the Jewish State.
A little over a year from now (November 2010) the largest air show and conference ever to be held in the Jewish State is scheduled to take place at an airport yet to be determined. The conference steering committee for the show, International Aerospace 2010, met this week amid a flurry of media hype that began with an announcement about the upcoming event in the Israel-based magazine, Technologies.
IDF Colonel (res.) Amnon Ben David will head the conference and exhibition, which he said he hopes to use as a vehicle to position Israel as a major world power in the aeronautics technology arena.
Technologies magazine vice president Dorit Aldubi Roffe commented in a release that there appeared to be "a huge demand for a conference of this type in Israel." She added that the show would be one of the most ambitious projects of its type ever held in the Jewish State.
International Aerospace Trade Mission to Israel, January 2010
Much sooner, however, aerospace corporate executives and other representatives are expected to arrive in Israel in the last week of January for a week of business-to-business activities, sponsored in part by the Israel Space Agency.
The Israel Aerospace Business Forum & Trade Mission, scheduled for January 24-29, will feature site visits to major Israeli aerospace companies, and a reception hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv.
Within the four-day business trade mission, participants will also attend the Fifth Ilan Ramon International Space Conference, to be held at the Fisher Institute in Herzliya.
NASA administrator and former astronaut Charles F. Bolden is expected to attend the conference, as well as other officials from prominent space agencies. In addition, representatives from Israel Aerospace Industries, Rafael, Elbit Systems, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Space X and firms from South America, Europe and Asia will attend.
Participants will also take part in a pre-conference meeting discussing the benefits of international commercial collaboration with Israel. Pre-arranged one-on-one business meetings with goverment officials are planned as well.
The "mission" is organized" by a consortium including, among others, the Fisher Brothers Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies and the U.S. Commercial Service in Tel Aviv -- which notes that Israel is the largest U.S. export market in the Middle East.
