Ray of Creativity Brightens the
Ranks of TV Evangelists
Way of the Master's Co-hosts Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron
Pull Off Their Greatest Stunt Yet

Whether staging a stand-off as sheriffs in an old time western, pretending to be blown up Fugitive-style by a band of soldiers, or acting like martini-toting Hollywood preachers, Way of the Master's Co-hosts Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron bring a certain creative flair to sharing the gospel message of Jesus Christ - on and off the camera. It's no surprise for Cameron, once a teen heartthrob to millions of young girls as the principle actor in the Growing Pains TV series, but what gives for New Zealand-born Comfort?

Comfort and Cameron's most daring feat yet has come in advance of Tuesday's 150th anniversary of Darwin's Origin of the Species. They delivered more than 170,000 copies of Darwin's seminal book. What has caused such a stir after coverage on TMZ, People, Los Angeles Times and U.S. News and World Report's God and Family blog - is that their updated Origin of the Species, known as a holy bible for atheists and evolutionists, features a 50-page introduction that includes a presentation of the gospel and intelligent design.

The evangelists' Origin in the Schools event will be staged nationwide and more than 1,200 volunteers have been enlisted to distribute what some consider contraband to our nation's future doctors, lawyers and politicians. Some of their opponents fumed and threatened to burn the books. Here are just a few comments they've received through Comfort's Atheist Central blog:

  • "Perhaps we should just call for a book burning!"
  • "In this instance, I would advocate book-burning."
  • "I'm not into burning books, but this one deserves to be."
  • "Anyone up for a large bonfire?"

And, during a recent talk, well-known atheist Richard Dawkins - Comfort's nemesis whom he devoted the introduction of another of his new books, titled Nothing Created Everything - encouraged students to refrain from burning, but just to rip out the first 50 pages.

During a recent interview on the New Zealand affiliate of ABC's 60 Minutes news franchise, Comfort shared with viewers the purpose for his and Kirk's seeming shenanigans. Without a hint of satire or comedy, Comfort revealed the truth about what makes him tick, saying, "What I am doing is very meaningful. When someone becomes a Christian they say 'thank you, thank you for what you are doing!'"
