Israelis Baffled by News of Defenseless US Soldiers
Many Israelis want to know: why didn't the soldiers attacked by a U.S. Army major-turned-terrorist return fire?
When a Muslim goes, well, Muslim in Israel he is typically shot to death by someone--say, a reserve soldier--within seconds of screaming "Allah Akbar."
In contrast with the Israeli experience, it took 10 minutes before a civilian police officer at Fort Hood was able to shoot and stop Muslim fanatic Nidal Malik Hasan.
How could that happen? How could so many people trained in the strategies and tactics of modern warfare be so defenseless?
The answer--and this may astonish many Americans--is that the victims were unarmed. U.S. soldiers are not allowed to carry guns for personal protection, even on a 340-acre base quartering more than 50,000 troops.
So it goes in brain-dead, liberal America.

Contrary to President Obama's crocodile tears, his Islamist-appeasing administration is bent on further disarming the U.S. military, and all Americans. Obama and his Communist crowd will not rest until every American is a sitting duck.

Israelis, who have had to combat terrorism all their lives, are not afraid of guns. They are an armed people, ready, willing, and able to defend themselves and their country.
Unlike indoctrinated Americans, paralyzed by fear and political correctness, Israelis understand that people, not guns, kill people.
American Jews, for the most part, are nothing like their Israeli co-religionists. American Jews--as this American Jewish journalist well knows--are disproportionately liberal and anti-gun. This is especially true of elitist, intellectual/professional Jews in Manhattan and the New York suburbs. They pride themselves in their masochistic, near-suicidal "tolerance" of Jew-haters and violent criminals.
The lessons of the Holocaust are lost on these Jews. They relish victimhood. Proud, tough Jews and proud, patriotic Americans make liberal Jews--and liberals in general--nervous.

While in Singapore for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit, U.S. President Barack Obama is expected to meet a representative of military-ruled Myanmar, or Burma, one of the world's most repressive regimes. Obama will meet Burmese Prime Minister Thein Sein, who is fourth in the junta's hierarchy, below ruling general Than Shwe.
A U.S. President has never met with a leader of the Burmese junta. But Obama has authorized a new policy of "pragmatic engagement" of Burma.
In 2004, Brad Adams, director of Human Rights Watch's Asia division, described the human rights situation in Burma as appalling.
"Burma is the textbook example of a police state," Adams said.
Three years later, the junta's security forces gunned down dozens of Buddhist monks and other peaceful protesters.
The legitimate claimant to the role of Burmese prime minister is Aung San Suu Kyi, the democratically elected leader of the National League for Democracy in Burma, who has been under house arrest since winning the election (and subsequently winning the Nobel Peace Prize) in 1990 and 1991, respectively.
Obama is likely to simply shake the junta representative's hand. As he is neither a Japanese emperor nor a Saudi king, Obama will probably not feel compelled to again disgrace himself and his office by bowing to a foreign leader. A hand clasp should suffice, though the Burmese murderer will probably not be treated to the sort of power handshake that Obama bestowed on Venezuela's anti-American strongman, Hugo Chavez.

Liberal media representatives are fond of saying that a mere 10 percent of the world's estimated 1.6 billion Muslims back the violent, global jihad.

Rod Dreher's column is must reading:Don't jump to conclusions about Islam's role in the Fort Hood massacre, the media warned. Who needed to jump? From almost the beginning, it was clear that Maj. Nidal Hasan was a homegrown jihadi.
Within hours of the attack, people who knew Hasan were telling reporters how openly pious he was and how he often expressed his opposition to U.S. war policy in religious terms favored by Islamic extremists. In fact, you had to strain hard not to see the role Islam played in this atrocity. But that's an exercise politically correct American elites – in the media, academia and government – are good at. They've certainly had lots of practice since 9/11.
When it comes to investigating and exposing radical Islam in America, the media see their job as managing the story, not telling it. Six years ago, the then-head of the Islamic Society of North America came in for an editorial board meeting. He talked about peace, friendship and tolerance. But when I calmly asked him how he reconciled that rhetoric with the record of support for radical causes among ISNA board members, he shook his fist at me and called me a Nazi.
That routine is, alas, not alien to American Muslim leaders with whom I've clashed since. They obfuscate what they really believe and try to intimidate critics into silence with accusations of bigotry. They cannily understand that's kryptonite to many journalists, who find Baptists scarier than Wahhabists.

Obama would bring Mullah Omar to the U.S. for a civilian court trial.
Had he been President at the end of World War II, Obama would have sabotaged the Nuremberg trials and instead brought Nazi war criminals to New York for civilian court trials.
Had he been in power in those days, Obama would have brought Japanese war criminals to the U.S.--Hawaii, probably--for civilian court trials.

Which is a main point of his Presidency. It serves as one of two strategic springboards, or platforms, from which the Anointed One can seek his Next Big Job--President of the World--i.e. United Nations Secretary-General.
Obama's other platform is the "Muslim world." Hence, his attempts to appease and align with Islamist Iran and Islamism in general. The Muslim world is a constituency capable of propelling Obama into the top UN post.

An unparalleled legal nightmare:Whatever the case, if it actually makes its way before a jury, it promises to be a trial like no other in memory, an extraordinary clash involving the morality of torture, due process rights of foreign terrorist operatives, and the ability of civilian courts to handle national security cases.
Mr. Mohammed and his four co-defendants in military custody have admitted their active involvement in plotting the Sept. 11 attacks and have boasted of their success in killing 3,000 people.
Once the Justice Department brings formal terrorism charges against him, Mr. Mohammed could seek to enter a guilty plea, just as he has tried to do in military custody.
But legal analysts were not convinced that he would go that route and said that he might instead seek to martyr himself in the eyes of Muslim extremists through a grand and lengthy trial.
“There’s reason to believe he will try to take advantage of a public platform — more public than Guantánamo afforded him — to publicize his jihadist views,” said David H. Laufman, a Washington lawyer and former federal terrorism prosecutor.
In fact, one question will be how a judge will prevent a trial from turning into a forum on the American war on terrorism, including the Bush administration’s interrogation policies. Terrorism defendants in lesser-known trials have given rambling speeches condemning the government.
