US Threatens Iran With Sanctions Certain to Fail

Sanctions will not stop Iran from acquiring atomic arms; the measures are certain to fail; and the Obama administration knows this. Contrary to its tough talk, the administration is resigned to "living with but never accepting" Iran as a nuclear weapons state--the Brzezinski formula--in the hope that Cold War-style containment will prevent Iran from actually using the weapons.
But Iran can't be contained, just as Nazi Germany could not be contained. Warning Tehran's turbaned tyranny that it will automatically be obliterated--instantly wiped off the face of the earth--if a nuclear weapon explodes anywhere in the United States or in Israel or in any other U.S. ally might have some chance of working. But appeaser-in-chief Barack Obama will never adopt such a doctrine. Instead, he will go on talking ... and talking ... while Iran prepares for war
