Being from Ohio, I have a natural dislike for the SEC and particularly Florida football. These are the times that try men’s souls. When Thomas Paine penned these words late in 1775, he was appealing to working class Americans to decide in favor of independence from Big Brother Britain. Paine didn’t use the deep, philosophical arguments with flowery Latin words so favored by scholars in the Age of Enlightenment; he reasoned with the common man, asking him to use his common sense and seriously consider the current state of affairs.
