The Threat from Islamic Extremism31 January 2010
Monday 1 February 2010
In a letter to The Sunday Times Lord Pearson today (31 January 2010) defends the UKIP position
on banning the wearing of burqas.
He rightly points out that, for years, our political class “castigated as racist anyone who dared to
warn about uncontrolled immigration. Now it is sowing another wind by refusing to face up to the reality of islam.”
[Pity about the mixed metaphor]
Lord Pearson’s letter follows a recent leading article in The Daily Telegraph suggesting
that muslim fanatics in the UK should be put on trial for treason. If, as they claim,
they are British (heaven preserve us) they should be subject to the full rigour
of British law.
The law on treason is entirely relevant. These fanatics are promoting the overthrow of
the British constitution and violent rebellion from within.
Mind you, successive British governments have been parties to the continuing overthrow of the British constitution for the last 40-odd years. But that's another matter.
