Following the decision by EU ministers to postpone a vote on the EU's proposed Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFM) Directive to May or June, all eyes are now on the European Parliament. As MEPs are due to vote on its first draft report in April, Open Europe invites you to a debate to discuss the best way forward for this controversial piece of legislation. Is an acceptable compromise emerging? How can we minimise costs and maximise the benefits of the Directive? Should smaller funds be excluded from the Directive? And how can we best avoid protectionist EU regulation of what is a global industry?
