Revised ITV/ComRes poll: Con 35%, Lab 28%, Lib Dem 24%

An ITV/ComRes poll conducted in the aftermath of the leaders’ debate last night, showed the Conservatives ahead with 35%, Labour on 28%, and the Liberal Democrats on 24%.

Previous reports had suggested the following figures: Conservative 36% (-3), the Liberal Democrats 35% (+14), Labour 24% (-3).

As statement from ComRes explains the methodology used in the poll which involved extrapolating voting intentions across the UK among those who watched the debate, giving the current figures.

The 4,000 sample of viewers showed that voting intentions were Conservative 36%, Labour 24% and Lib Dems 35%, which was broadcast on the ITV News at Ten immediately following the debate.

This is unbelievable - how much shld we read into it?

Labour support collapsing, I wonder how Mandy can spin his way out this. The MSM will love this, they won't have to take sides after all - but we have to remember - there is only one poll that counts

Com Res have risked their reputation by allowing this unweighted poll out this morning.13:51 |

How can a percentage of 35% suddenly become 24%. I did inferential statistics at college and it seems to me that weighting could not possibly make this much difference. I wonder if they simply reported the figures wrongly the first time round and then realised their mistake? I agree with Bob.15:53 |

Begs the question why ITV/ComRes rushed out a raw poll in the first place. It seems much of the media had already made up its mind to crown Clegg king of the show.
