We live in a guarded gate golf community of 70 homes in the north end of Cherokee County Bullard, Texas. Our entire neighborhood is buzzing that none of us have received a census! We have lived her since 2003! Bambi and the Chicago thugs aren't sending a census to conservative areas. Texas may be in trouble. I heard that a couple of liberal cities in Washington State are having an ongoing contest to see which city fills out most census. The conservatives better start a Tea Party Census Alert!
What's next? Serving up Big Moes instead of Big Macs? This is islamic supremacism.

Hamas-linked CAIR declares jihad against McDonald'sOnce again the thugs at CAIR demand that non-Muslims change their practices to conform to Islamic sensibilities, rather than calling upon Muslims in the United States to adapt to American culture. Do they really expect anyone to believe that McDonald's didn't hire this woman because it is "Islamophobic"? Rochester Hills (WWJ) -- The Michigan Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is accusing McDonald's of religious and ethnic discrimination. CAIR has filed an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint against a McDonald's Restaurant in Rochester Hills. The complaint was filed on behalf of a Muslim woman who applied for a job at the restaurant. During the interview, she says that one of the restaurant managers informed her that wearing an Islamic head scarf, or hijab, would be a problem.In 2008, the EEOC issued new guidelines on accommodating religious beliefs and practices in the workplace.
The guidelines offer protection for workers who wear religious attire such as a headscarf.
"We urge McDonald's to take immediate action to bring its hiring policies into compliance with long-established legal guidelines on reasonable religious accommodation in the workplace," said CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid.
The leader of the Muslim world, Haj Amin al-Husseini (the Grand Mufti), issued this fatwa against Great Britain at the height of World War II.

A headline in some copies on Tuesday about China’s position on possible sanctions against Iran if it does not curb its nuclear program overstated a promise that President Hu Jintao of China made to President Obama in a meeting in Washington on Monday. As the article noted, Mr. Hu said that his country would join negotiations over the sanctions. He did not say that China supports such sanctions.

Perhaps Mr. Lauder can wield his influence amongst his peers to stop supporting anti-Israel politicians and institutions. Perhaps Mr. Lauder and the WJC can do a serious evaluation of the philanthropic activities of American Jews. It's time for a seismic shift in where American Jews put their money.
Perhaps it's time to fund organizations like SIOA, FDI, and ZOA, and stop funding antisemitic political parties, Jew-hating universities, colleges, and dhimmi orgainzations that speak to "moderate" Islam and serve as a distraction from the threat doctrine. After ten years of this fantasy, what have they accomplished?
Perhaps it's time for American Jews to take stock and review how they failed the six million in Europe during World war II and now stand to fail the six million in Israel.

World Jewish Congress Stands up for Israel One Jerusalem.org
In an unprecedented open letter to President Obama, Ronald Lauder, the President of the World Jewish Congress asks the President to stop his public feud with the State of Israel and start dealing with real issues like a nuclear Iran.
In a letter that will be published tomorrow in the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post, Mr. Lauder takes the bold step of standing up for Israel and the Jewish people. With tension growing between the Obama White House and the government of Israel, this is the first time the World Jewish Congress has publicly challenged the conduct of American foreign policy toward Israel. The concerns and questions raised in Mr. Lauder's letter represent a respectful, but very troubling, expression of anxiety about the diplomatic confrontation the Obama Administration seems set on seeking with Israel.
The World Jewish Congress' unprecedented decision to "go public" with its concerns about the Obama Administration indicates that growing friction between the Obama Administration and Israel continues to cause real anxiety in the Jewish community. This is in line with the soon to be released McLaughlin poll which shows that among Jews who originally voted for Obama only 42% would vote for him again.
Much media speculation here and in Israel has focused on how strained relations with the Obama Administration will impact politics in Israel. The letter from Mr. Lauder and the World Jewish Congress suggests that President Obama may feel political pressure here at home if he continues his public feud with Israel.
The stench off this rot is intolerable. The unions and their leadership have enslaved free people, and now they hold us hostage to their gluttonous thievery. 100 years ago (child labor, sweat shops etc.), they served their purpose. Now unions are a fancy word for organized crime. You should see their offices on the west side, where Sharpton and Jackson hang their gilded hats.
The days when public-employee unions were responsible citizens was an anomaly. When you have one group that does not have to respond to the market place, whose booty is stolen from the hard working, they have no souls. There once was a time when public-employee unions were responsible citizens. They saw their members' well-being directly tied to the well-being of the people and institutions they served. The movement was probably more militant 40 years ago, but it famously did its part to help the city out of the fiscal crisis of the '70s.
That is ancient history. The modern movement has seceded from reality.
Instead of recognizing it needs a healthy New York to survive, it aims to bleed the public dry, then demand a bailout. Or maybe it thinks it can just move on to another "host" until it, too, runs out of money.
Haven't the bosses heard? Greed is no longer good.
Oblivious to the pain inflicted on taxpayers less well off than they are, the state teachers union is sticking to its predictions of doomsday if education spending is touched. The union newspaper, New York Teacher, reports President Dick Iannuzzi warned that Paterson's plan to cut $1.7 billion "will devastate New York's schools and colleges and derail any hope for economic recovery."
This is hooey, a ritualistic scaremongering that calls into question the ability of teachers to actually teach if they have no regard for facts. "Albany, do right by our kids," the newspaper de mands on Page 1.
Here's a novel thought: How about unions do right by our kids? If they care about New York stu dents, they'll step up to the plate and help minimize the impact of sensible reductions.
The fat is easy to find. Educrats are spreading like poison ivy at the city's Department of Education.
In the last decade, the payroll has swelled by more than 21,000 teachers and other "pedagogical" employees, pushing the total from 90,000 to 112,000. Meanwhile, student enrollment has declined by about 50,000, to 1.04 million, according to the city's Independent Budget Office.
We know where hundreds of these phantom teachers are -- in the rubber rooms, perfecting their napping skills. Thank ironclad union rules for that giant rip-off.

Legal Jihad Exposed: Woman Suing Judge over Hijab-Ban Worried about Nude Pics hat tip David
I really don't care if Muslim women send nude pictures to their boyfriends. But this is a little different. Raneen Albaghdady is suing a judge for making her take off her Hijab in court, as this supposedly interfered with her Islamic modesty. Now she's panicking because some cellphones stolen from her contain nude pictures, and she's worried that these pictures will end up on the internet.
Here's an idea. If you're really concerned about modesty, and you believe that a judge is violating your rights, then take it to court. But if modesty isn't really an issue for you and people are passing around your nude photos, no faking.
HEIGHTS — A Muslim woman who is suing a Wayne County judge for making her remove a religious scarf during a court proceeding says that several cell phones containing nude photos of her were stolen during a burglary at her house.
Raneen Albaghdady, 33, called police March 27 after she found her house in the 25000 block of Andover ransacked. Among the items taken were six cell phones that she told police had nude photos on them.
She said she suspected an ex-boyfriend was responsible for the break-in, and that she was worried he may post the photos on the Internet, because he previously had posted other pictures of her online, police said.
The incident could come into play as her lawsuit against 3rd Circuit Court Family Division Judge William Callahan moves forward.
Filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in August, the suit alleges that Callahan denied Albaghdady’s religious freedom when he made her remove her hijab during a June name change hearing in his Detroit courtroom.
A hijab is an Islamic headdress worn by Muslim women that covers various parts of the head, neck, and face, according to the complaint.
At a press conference announcing the lawsuit held by the Council of American Islamic Relations Michigan chapter, a Muslim civil rights organization and co-plaintiff on the suit, a spokeswoman for the group described the significance of the hijab.
“It’s out of sheer modesty of appearance and dress and covering your beauty,” she said. “When one is accustomed to wearing the hijab, to a certain way of dress, to a certain way of acting, to have to then uncover, you almost feel revealed or definitely very vulnerable, but understandably so, humiliated and embarrassed.” Read More.

Syria Gave Scuds to Hezbollah, U.S. Says Wall Street Journal
JERUSALEM—Syria has transferred long-range Scud missiles to the Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah, Israeli and U.S. officials alleged, in a move that threatens to alter the Middle East's military balance and sets back a major diplomatic outreach effort to Damascus by the Obama administration.
Israeli President Shimon Peres on Tuesday publicly charged President Bashar Assad's government with transferring Scud missiles to Hezbollah's forces inside Lebanon. Syria and Hezbollah both denied the charges. But the allegations already are affecting U.S. foreign policy: Republicans pressed on Capitol Hill to block the appointment of a new American ambassador to Damascus, according to congressional officials. The White House said it was pressing ahead.
The Scuds are believed to have a range of more than 435 miles—placing Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Israel's nuclear installations all within range of Hezbollah's military forces. During a monthlong war with Israel in 2006, Hezbollah used rockets with ranges of 20 to 60 miles.
Israeli officials called Scud missiles "game-changing" armaments that mark a new escalation in the Mideast conflict. They alleged that Mr. Assad is increasingly linking Syria's military command with those of Hezbollah and Iran.
Officials briefed on the intelligence said Israeli and American officials believe Syria transferred Scud missiles built with either North Korean or Russian technology.
Rumors of the arms transfer had been swirling around Jerusalem and Washington for more than a week, but both Israeli and U.S. officials initially declined to confirm the reports. "Syria claims it wants peace while at the same time it delivers Scuds to Hezbollah, whose only goal is to threaten the state of Israel," Mr. Peres said in an interview with Israeli radio.
President Barack Obama has made engaging Mr. Assad's government a cornerstone of his Mideast policy, hoping to woo Damascus into a regional peace process and lure it from a strategic alliance with Iran.
The Bush administration had increased sanctions on Damascus and pushed a United Nations-backed investigation into the murder of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri; Mr. Obama's aides said these measures just drove Syria closer to Iran.
In addition to nominating an ambassador, Mr. Obama moved to ease, though not lift, sanctions targeting Syria's ability to import airplane parts and software. The U.S. has sought to increase military-to-military contacts with Damascus to better secure Syria's border with Iraq.
A senior U.S. official involved in Mideast policy said Washington was uncertain why Mr. Assad would escalate tensions with Israel. But in recent months, Israeli and Syrian officials have publicly charged each other with preparing for war. The U.S. official said Syria's arms transfer could have been meant as a form of deterrence.
The Israelis in recent weeks postponed war games in an effort to calm tensions with Damascus, however. And Israeli officials have publicly told Mr. Assad that the Jewish state doesn't seek a conflict. Many Israeli officials said they felt tensions were lessening ahead of the announcement of the alleged Scuds shipment.
Syrian officials also have voiced frustration with the pace of the U.S. rapprochement. Some have said they believed sanctions could be removed quicker. They also said Washington appeared unable to extract from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a meaningful commitment to negotiations aimed at reverting the Golan Heights region to Syrian sovereignty.
Fears of a new military conflict in the region have escalated in recent weeks among U.S., Israeli and Arab officials. In late February, Mr. Assad hosted a summit in Damascus with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hezbollah's secretary general, Hassan Nasrallah. The three pledged to continue their "resistance" against the U.S.-Israeli alliance.
A spokesman for Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry, who went as an emissary to Damascus on April 1, said that he couldn't comment on classified matters but that the Massachusetts senator had raised long-running concerns about Syria helping to arm Hezbollah directly with President Assad.
"These weapons transfers must stop in order to promote regional stability and security," said the spokesman, Frederick Jones.
Detractors of the White House's policy of engagement with Damascus seized on the news Tuesday as evidence Mr. Assad has no intention of breaking Syria's strategic ties to Tehran and Hezbollah.
"It's increasingly hard to argue that the engagement track has worked," said Andrew Tabler, a Syria analyst at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a regional think tank with no party affiliation that some view as pro-Israel.

On Monday, 12 April 2010, Sherin Zayed (al-‘Attar), from Beit Lahia town in the northern the Gaza Strip, was killed allegedly to “maintain family honor.”
According to the field follow-up of the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 11:50 on Monday, 12 April 2010, the body of Sherin Khamis Zayed (al-‘Attar), 32, was brought to Martyr Kamal ‘Edwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, as she was hit by several bullets to the head and the chest. The chief of police in Beit Lahia town, Sameh al-Sultan, told a PCHR fieldworker that the police opened an investigation into the incident and arrested a number of the victim’s relatives, including her father. The father told the police that five masked gunmen raided his house on Monday morning and pulled his daughter outside the house and fired at her. Data provided by the police indicates that this crime was committed allegedly to “maintain family honor.”
PCHR strongly condemns this crime, and:1. Expresses concern over the recurrence of murders against women in the Occupied Palestinian Territory allegedly "to maintain family honor." Such recurrence may be attributed to the relative impunity granted to murderers, who are often sentenced to less than 3 civil years of imprisonment, equivalent to 24 months of effective imprisonment.
"Occupied Palestinian Territory." It's Gaza, asshat. Israel unilaterally pulled put in 2005. Although I agree -- it's illegally occupied by .....Muslims.
2. Calls for suitable deterrent penalties to be applied to "family honor" murders. These murders must be dealt with in the same manner as other crimes of willful killing, taking into consideration international human rights standards. Many murderers use the claim of maintaining family honor as a justification for the crimes they commit in order to benefit from more lenient sentences.
Obama says, respect it.
This threat deserves a swift military response -- a beheading, metaphorically, of course.
Obama is a third worlder and a coward. He will do nothing but beat up on our friends to appease his Islamic overlords. All this is going down while Obama plays footsie at his nuclear nonsense campfire -- sucking up to Iran's enablers while beating up our allies.
This is a declaration of war. Iran should be attacked today and their people liberated from their misery. What kind of world is it where Islamic madmen can run wild and roughshod across the free world?

Tehran: If Iran is attacked, nuclear devices will go off in American cities

This warning, along with an announcement that Iran would join the world's nuclear club within a month, raised the pitch of Iranian anti-US rhetoric to a new high Tuesday, April 13, as 47 world leaders gathered in Washington for President Barack Obama's Nuclear Security Summit. The statement published by Kayhan said: "If the US strikes Iran with nuclear weapons, there are elements which will respond with nuclear blasts in the centers of America's main cities." For the first time, debkafile's military sources report, Tehran indicated the possibility of passing nuclear devices to terrorists capable of striking inside the United States.
Without specifying whether those elements would be Iranian or others, Tehran aimed at the heart of the Nuclear Security Summit by threatening US cities with nuclear terror.
debkafile's Iranians sources report that Tehran is playing brinkmanship to demonstrate that the Washington summit, from which Iranand North Korea were excluded, failed before it began, because terrorist elements capable of striking inside the US had already acquired nuclear devices for that purpose.
Although Iran has yet to attain operational nuclear arms, our military sources believe it does possess the makings of primitive nuclear devices or "dirty bombs."
In an interview ahead of the summit, President Obama warned: "If there was ever a detonation in New York City, or London, orJohannesburg, the ramifications... would be devastating."
In another shot at the summit, Behzad Soltani, deputy director of Iran's Atomic Commission, announced Tuesday: "Iran will join the world nuclear club within a month in a bid to deter possible attacks on the country." He added: "No country would even think about attackingIran once it is in the club."
The Iranian official's boast was run by the Fars news agency, published by Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps.
Behzadi further pointed to the construction of 360 MW nuclear power plant and a 40 MW research reactor in Iran's central city of Arak, claiming the projects were 70 percent complete.
This plant is generally believed to have been built to enable Iran to produce weapons-grade plutonium as an alternative weapons fuel to highly-enriched uranium and material for radioactive weapons.

Along with the strides made in its nuclear manufacturing capacity, Tehran's anti-US rhetoric has grown more strident in the past week. Thursday, April 8, Iran's Armed Forces Chief of Staff Maj.Gen. Hassan Firouzabadi said if the United States made any military moves on the Islamic Republic "none of the American troops in the region would go back home alive."

I reported last week that I, too, had received two Census 2010 forms, another attempt to jack up the numbers in a super blue state. Well, it seems I am suffering an embarrassment of taxpayer-funded riches.
Imagine how special I felt last night when I received another two census forms to be filled out. That brings my total to four, not including my own personal Census stalkers. These bureaucratic buffoons just gifted themselves with one-sixth of the US economy in the form of healthcare.
The question is, how many of the clueless are filling all of them in and sending them all back?
I expect the voting districts and tax dollar allocations to look measurably different after this sham is concluded.

I am not a creature from another planet, as you seem to believe.
I am a Jerusalemite- like yourselves, a man of flesh and blood.
I am a citizen f my city and integral part of my people.
I have a few things to get of my chest. Because I am not a diplomat, I do not have to mince words. I do not have to please you, or even persuade you.
I owe you nothing. You did not build this city; You do not live in it; you did not defend it when they came to destroy it. And we will be dammed if we will let you take it away.
There was a Jerusalem before there was a New York. When Berlin , Moscow , London and Paris were miasmal forest and swamp, there was thriving Jewish community here. It gave something to the world which you nations have rejected ever since you established yourselves – a human moral code.
Here the prophets walked, their words flashing like forked lightening. Here a people who wanted nothing more than to be left alone, fought off waves of heathen would – be conquerors, bled and died on the battlements, hurled themselves into the flames of their burning temple rather then surrender; and when finally overwhelmed by sheer numbers and led away into captivity, swore that before they forgot Jerusalem they would see their tongues cleave to their palates, their right arm wither.
Foe two pain filled millennia, while we were your unwelcome guests, we prayed daily to return to this city. Three times a day we petitioned the almighty: “ gather us from the four corners of the world, bring us upright to our land; return in mercy to Jerusalem, Thy city and dwell in it as Thou promised.”
On every Yom Kippur and Passover we fervently voiced the hope that next year would find us in Jerusalem. I have watched the city bombarded twice. By nations calling themselves civilized. In 1948 , while you looked on apathetically, I saw women and children blown to smithereens, this after we had agreed to request to internationalize the city. It was a deadly combination that did the job:
British officers, Arab gunners and American made cannons.
And then the savage sacking of the old city: The willful slaughter, the wonton destruction of every synagogue and religious school; the desecration of Jewish cemeteries; the sale by a ghoulish government of tomb stones for building materials, for poultry runs, army camps – even latrines.
And you never said a word.

Your hearts bled when Berlin came under siege. You rushed your airlift “ to save the gallant Berliners. “ But you did not send one ounce of food when Jews starved in besieged Jerusalem. You thundered against the wall which the east Germans ran through the middle of the German capital - but not one peep out of you about the other wall, the one that tore through the heart of Jerusalem.
And when the same thing happened twenty years later, and the Arabs unleashed a savage unprovoked bombardment of the holy city again, did any of you do anything? The only time you came to life was when the city was at last reunited. Then you wrung your hands and spoke loftily of “ justice” and the need for the “Christian” quality of turning the other cheek.
The truth is – and you know it deep inside your gut – you would prefer the city to be destroyed rather than have it governed by Jews. No matter how diplomatically you phrase it, the age old prejudices seep out of every word.
If our return to the city has tied you theology in knots, perhaps you would better reexamine your catechisms. After what we have been through, we are not passively going to accommodate ourselves to the twisted idea that we are to suffer eternal homelessness until we accept your Savior.

An analysis published last Monday by Defense & Foreign Affairs offers some corroboration for the Georgia-hosted, U.S.-approved jihadi confab in December, the mention of which seemed to upset some readers.
Here are the relevant excerpts from the 16-page analysis, which is subscription-only and therefore not linkable:
Meanwhile, Georgia is actively seeking to exploit the spread of jamaats [jihadist mini-societies] in the North Caucasus in order to go after the Russian pipelines in hope of ensnaring the US into actively supporting a new confrontation with Russia. In early December 2009, Tbilisi organized a high-level meeting of jihadists groups from the Middle East and Western Europe in order “to coordinate activities on Russia’s southern flank.” The Georgian Embassy in Kuwait, for example, arranged for travel documents for jihadists from Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States. (There is a large and very active Chechen/Circassian community in Jordan since the 19th Century that is heavily represented in the intelligence services and the military.) In Tbilisi, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Lordkipanadze was the host and coordinator. The meeting was attended by several Georgian senior officials who stressed that Saakashvili himself knew and approved of the undertaking. The meeting addressed the launch of both “military operations” in southern Russia and ideological warfare. One of the first results of the meeting was the launch, soon afterwards of the Russian-language TV station First Caucasian.
The jihadists of the North Caucasus — including the Arab commanders in their midst — came out of the early December 2009 meeting convinced that Tbilisi is most interested in the spread of terrorism. The meeting was attended by, among others, Mohmad Muhammad Shabaan, an Egyptian senior commander who is also known as Seif al-Islam and who has been involved in Caucasus affairs since 1992. He took copious notes. According to Shabaan’s notes, the Georgian government wants the jihadists to conduct “acts of sabotage to blow up railway tracks, electricity lines and energy pipelines” in southern Russia in order to divert construction back to Georgian territory.
Georgian intelligence promised to facilitate the arrival in the Caucasus of numerous senior jihadists by providing Georgian passports, and to provide logistical support including the reopening of bases in northern Georgia. Russian intelligence was not oblivious of the meeting. Seif al-Islam and two senior aides were assassinated on February 4, 2010. The Russians retrieved a lot of documents in the process. Moscow signaled its displeasure shortly afterwards when the presidents of Russia and Abkhazia signed a 50-year agreement on a Russian military base in order to “protect Abkhazia’s sovereignty and security, including against international terrorist groups”.
A major issue still to be resolved is the extent of the US culpability.
The same analysis recalls when this misguided approach was used in the Balkans, and outlines how, in order to not alienate Muslims while we tried to contain terror from the Middle East, we fortified terror in the Balkans and jump-started the global jihad:
Initially, the US-led Western intervention in the former Yugoslavia was aimed first and foremost to salvage NATO (and with it US dominance over post-Cold War Western Europe) from irrelevance and collapse. As well, the support for the Muslims of Bosnia became the counter-balance of the US confrontation with jihadism in the Middle East. Anthony Lake, US President Bill Clinton’s National Security Adviser, formulated the logic for the US-led intervention on behalf of the Muslims. The US national interest “requires our working to contain Muslim extremism, and we have to find a way of being firm in our opposition to Muslim extremism while making it clear we’re not opposed to Islam. If we are seen as anti-Muslim, it’s harder for us to contain Muslim extremism. And if we stand by while Muslims are killed and raped in Bosnia, it makes it harder to continue our policy,” Lakeargued. That in the process the US would end up partnering with, supporting and arming, the very same jihadist forces Clinton was seeking to contain meant nothing to Washington. The only thing Washington cared about was the image of a US rallying to the rescue of a Muslim cause.
Note that in the 90s the U.S., like Britain, permitted and facilitated terrorist networks to operate in Bosnia and Kosovo for the purpose of Serb-killing, and along with Germany we trained Albanian and Middle Eastern terrorists in Albania. Sure enough, the same decade saw U.S. officials participating in a December 1999 meeting in Azerbaijan very similar to the December 2009 meeting in Tbilisi, where “programs for the training and equipping of mujahedin from the Caucasus, Central and South Asia, and the Arab world were discussed and agreed upon.” The mention of this meeting comes in as the analysis gives background on how we decided to support terrorism against Russia:
By 1999, the US had given up on reconciling Azerbaijan and Armenia in order to construct pipelines to Turkey, and instead Washington started focusing on building pipelines via Georgia.
For such a project to be economically viable, the Russian pipelines would have to be shut down. Hence, in early October 1999, senior officials of US oil companies and US officials offered representatives of Russian “oligarchs” in Europe huge dividends from the proposed Baku-Ceyhan pipeline if the “oligarchs” convinced Moscow to withdraw from the Caucasus, permit the establishment of an Islamic state, and close down the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline. Consequently, there would be no competition to the Baku-Ceyhan pipeline. The “oligarchs” were convinced that the highest levels of the Clinton White House endorsed this initiative. The meeting failed because the Russians would hear nothing of the US proposal.
Consequently, the US determined to deprive Russia of an alternate pipeline route by supporting a spiraling violence and terrorism in Chechnya….The Clinton White House sought to actively involve the US in yet another anti-Russian jihad as if reliving the “good ol’ days” of Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo, seeking to support and empower the most virulent anti-Western Islamist forces in yet another strategic region.
In mid-December 1999, US officials participated in a formal meeting in Azerbaijan in which specific programs for the training and equipping of mujahedin from the Caucasus, Central and South Asia, and the Arab world were discussed and agreed upon. This meeting led to Washington’s tacit encouragement of both Muslim allies (mainly the intelligence services of Turkey, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia) and US “private security companies” (of the type that did Washington’s dirty job in the Balkans while skirting and violating the international embargo the US formally supported) to assist the Chechens and their Islamist allies to surge in spring 2000. Citing security concerns vis-à-vis Armenia and Russia, Azerbaijan adamantly refused to permit training camps on its soil.
Now, just to keep our — including my — heads straight, let’s remind ourselves that this exercise was not a defense of Russia; it was not meant to start an argument about how bad or how not-that-bad Russia is. The point is that foreign relations in a mad world require finding enough common ground with not-so-great states so that we can work together where we can work together. It’s to minimize the messiness of things. Why, when we had Russia in its historically most malleable form, did we insist on provoking and provoking and provoking? Why did we make a bad situation like Russia worse when we had an opportunity to make it better? As with all problematic countries that we nonetheless find areas of cooperation with, we narrowed even those areas by dealing with the Russians in the bad faith that had been their trademark. Simultaneously, we moved away from picking the lesser evil in a given conflict, and started siding with the greater.
It’s a surreal situation indeed when the actions of my savior country put me in the position of having to “defend” Russia, whose people my parents thank their lucky stars to not have to live among anymore. I myself am a self-proclaimed Russophobe; I just had no idea how much more pathological America’s Russophobia is. So for someone who is loath to visit even Brighton Beach, I find myself in a surprising position here, pointing out where we went wrong and shoved Russia back into old behaviors.
Infuriatingly predictably, some comment posters both here and on Jihad Watch suggested that the line I’m taking is one that’s paid for by Russia. The same “tip” was offered to Robert Spencer at JW by a fellow blogger — in that tone of providing “some friendly, professional, and cautionary advice.” The likes of which I’m all too familiar with by now. (One Wall St. Journal fixture advised me, “Your views on this [the Balkans] are deeply misjudged…You’re not doing your career any favors.” Thanks. Good thing I don’t have a career, then.) It certainly would be nice if anyone paid me for anything I do, but it wasn’t to be in this lifetime.
Regardless, it shouldn’t seem strange for someone to be pointing out that our foreign policy is being guided by people with a stronger anti-Russian agenda than anti-jihad agenda. And notice where this kind of thinking has gotten us before. Take the past two decades of Western policy and media coverage in the Balkans, which were based on information that made its way into reporters’ notebooks directly from the Ministry of Information of the Bosnian Government run by the fundamentalist Muslim wartime president Alija Izetbegovic. The template was used again when politicians, reporters, NGOs and human rights organizations dutifully repeated what was coming out of the KLA-run newspapers and other propaganda organs of the Kosovo separatists. And so in service to consistency, having gotten into this hole, we’ve kept digging. With our Yugoslavia intervention, as the Defense & Foreign Affairs analysis points out, we’ve ended up “demonizing the Serbs and the world of Eastern Christianity as a whole.” Such that we’ve arrived at a place where the word “Byzantine” is now used to mean primitive or uncivilized. While the Muslim world and Islamic heritage represent the height of culture, tradition, heritage and civilization.
One interesting thing about the reactions to calling the U.S. on its aggressive alienation of Russia via, for example, the use of jihadists is the sense of outrage and shock at the suggestion that America would support these violent groups, followed immediately by a defense or justification of such tactics (e.g. “we *should* help the Chechens against the Russians”). Meanwhile, these oh-so-incendiary allegations happen to coincide with overtly stated intentions and policies. (See the late Senator Tom Lantos and his ilk applauding the creation of a U.S.-made Muslim state in Europe, which the jihadists should “take note of,” Lantos hoped.)
I haven't said enough good things about Ed Lynch and why every one of my Palm Beach Atlas readers must haul ass to the polls with their friends, enemies, mah jongg players, golf buds, bosses, children, anyone -- and get the vote out for Lynch.
Lynch understands the problems of islamic supremacism, big government, huge tax burdens. He is a great American, and yes, he loves Israel. I can't say enough good things about him.

I haven't seen any polling on FL-19, so I have no idea how things are currently going. And it didn't thrill me that I got a robo-call (on my
cell phone!) a few days ago from the third party "conservative" who may end up handing a close race to the Democrat. But I'm cautiously optimistic. At the very least, I think Ed Lynch is going to do a lot better than any Republican should in a district with a Cook PVI of D+15 and a better-than 2 to 1 Democratic registration advantage. Obama and Kerry each carried the district by over 30 points, with about 66% of the vote. But there is a lot of anger over Obamacare among traditionally Democratic voters, immigration is not working for the Dems, and despite his squirming, Ted Deutch is being tied securely to the Obama/Clinton Second Front against Israel. From my worms-eye view of one corner of the district (which looks like an ink blot test and runs from the rural center of the state to a north-south strip that runs just inland from the coast, where I live) it seems that Republicans, Tea Party types, Indies and disaffected Dems are motivated, while rubber-stamp Dems are complacent, many seem barely aware that there's an election tomorrow. Best of all, the weather is supposed to be bad. According to local radar, we should be seeing thunderstorms around the time the polls open, again at midday, and more in the early evening, shortly before the polls close. If all of this depresses the unmotivated voter, it should cut for Lynch. I plan to be at my polling place before it opens at 7 AM, come rain or shine.
I'm hoping that the weatherman is right for a change.
As I mentioned on Twitter, I've often thought Election Day should be held the day after taxes are due. This year, this district will choose its congressman two days before.
Obviously, the challenge before Republican Ed Lynch is substantial, even if some of these factors break his way. If you know someone in this district, give them a nudge.

Now a new survey shows that 2009 was the worst year for anti-Semitism in at least two decades. Anti-Semitic attacks and events around the world more than doubled in 2009. The European Jewish Congress (EJC) and The Stephen Roth Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism and Racism at Tel Aviv University say that part of this increase came from an “orchestrated and concerted attempt to delegitimize the Jewish People and Israel” in Western Europe. There were “mass demonstrations and verbal and visual expressions against Israel and the Jews, with “the worst offenders” appearing in “Western Europe, particularly in the UK and France, followed by Canada.”
And many of these are Muslim immigrants who have come to those countries and brought their Islamic anti-Semitism with them. They’re following in the footsteps of the Mufti: in 1941, Haj Amin al-Husseini fled to Germany and met with Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler, Joachim Von Ribbentrop and other Nazi leaders. He wanted to persuade them to extend the Nazis’ anti-Jewish pogrom to the Arab world. He lived in the lap of luxury in Berlin from 1941 to 1945, making weekly broadcasts to the Muslim world from Berlin, inciting the ummah to exterminate the Jews and fight the allied forces.
Himmler recalled: “Muslims responded to the call of Muslim leaders and joined our side because of their hatred of our joint Jewish-English-Bolshevik enemies, and because of their belief and respect for, above all — Our Fuehrer.” And when the Jewish Rescue and Relief Committee in Budapest, tried to get the Germans authorities to allow 1,861 Hungarian Jews to emigrate to Palestine, Adolf Eichmann himself turned down the request: “I am a personal friend of the Grand Mufti. We have promised him that no European Jew would enter Palestine anymore.”

The cartoonist Kurt Westergaard´s axe-assassin has been a board member in the association that runs the mosque. The mosque has received million-kroner support from Aalborg Municipality.
Furthermore, the imam of the mosque, Abdullah Aden has among other things said to Information (Danish newspaper), that it is a religious duty to remove the clitoris of girls. “It is good for the girl to be circumcised. It is a sign that they are believing moslems” he said to Information on the 8th. November 2002.
We cannot accept that such revolting things are being preached in our city. It is directly in opposition to our law to urge to such injuries.
Besides, the axe-assassin is proof that radicalism is being preached in the mosque. The imam of the mosque has even defended the axe-assassin. He claims that the axe-assassin was tempted into a trap by PET (Police Intelligence) and that PET even drove him to Kurt Westergaards home. He states that PET is evil and that PET should be monitored.
All this above mentioned make us demand the mosque being closed.

The European Union intends to use the experience of Kosovo if the Palestinian Authority decides to proclaim a Palestinian state unilaterally."Yet we do not have a clear position on the independence of Palestine, but the EU has the experience of
Kosovo, which we plan to introduce in this case," the head of the EU office in Israel Andrew Standley told journalists in
Tel Aviv on April 12.
Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority Salam Fayyad said last week that in 2011 the "world will witness the birth of an independent Palestinian state".
Israel, as always, rejected these statements and believes that a Palestinian state can be created only within the "roadmap", which envisages a solution to the problem of two states - Palestine and Israel.
Kosovo, an autonomous province in Serbia, mostly populated by Albanians, in February 2008 declared itself an independent republic with its capital in Pristina. Official Belgrade authorities have not recognized the unilateral proclamation of Kosovo, while most European countries, as well as the U.S. supported it. In February 2009, the number of countries that recognize Kosovo's independence reached 54.
The EU representative also said that the role of Brussels in solving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict remains a minor, as a central place is reserved for the United States, having great potential.
"The EU supports the U.S. efforts in this regard, and seeks the ways to assist the Obama administration in resolving this conflict, which must be resolved on the basis of international law," said Standley.
Brussels, he said, made it clear to Israel that it opposes any blockade, and calls for an immediate lifting of the economic and humanitarian blockade of the Gaza Strip.
"The blockade of the Gaza Strip is not productive and in any case not in the interest of economic development of the enclave. Our position is clear and exact - we oppose any blockade," said Standley
The blockade of Gaza was launched after the Palestinian movement Hamas gained control over the enclave in June 2007. The blockade was strengthened after a series of rocket attacks on southern Israel by Palestinian groups from Gaza.

Obama: We're still working on our democracy Foreign Policy
President Obama said Sunday that the United States is still "working on" democracy and a top aide said he has taken "historic steps" to improve democracy in the United States during his time in office.
The remarks came as Obama met with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev -- one of the U.S. president's many meetings with world leaders ahead of this week's nuclear summit.
Kazakhstan, which has been touting its record on combating nuclear proliferation, is a key player in the NATO supply network to Afghanistan and currently heads the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Some observers see a conflict between Kazakhstan's chairmanship of the 56-nation OSCE, which plays an important role in monitoring elections in emerging democracies, and its own widely criticized human rights record.
But if the Obama administration saw any disconnect, it kept its criticism to itself.
"In connection with the OSCE, the presidents had a very lengthy discussion of issues of democracy and human rights," NSC senior directorMike McFaul said on a conference call with reporters Sunday. "Both presidents agreed that you don't ever reach democracy; you always have to work at it. And in particular, President Obama reminded his Kazakh counterpart that we, too, are working to improve our democracy."
The Wall Street Journal's Jonathan Weisman asked McFaul to clarify.
"You seemed to be suggesting there was some equivalence between their issues of democracy and the United States' issues, when you said that President Obama assured him that we, too, are working on our democracy," Weisman said. "Is there equivalence between the problems that President Nazarbayev is confronting and the state of democracy in the United States?"
"Absolutely not ... There was no equivalence meant whatsoever," McFaul said. "[Obama's] taken, I think, rather historic steps to improve our own democracy since coming to office here in the United States."
In an interview, Kazakh Ambassador Erlan Idrissov told Weisman, "There was no pressure at all in the meeting," and that Obama quoted Winston Churchill as saying that democracy is "the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried."
The warm welcome for Nazarbayev underscores the extent to which Kazakhstan, which agreed in January to allow NATO to ship nonlethal cargo through its territory, has become critical to the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan -- especially given the ongoing instability in neighboring Kyrgyzstan, where the U.S. military leases an important airbase.
Nazarbayev has ruled Kazakhstan since 1991, when the country became independent after the fall of the Soviet Union, and his highly centralized rule has been heavily criticized by human rights monitors.
The State Department's own 2009 human rights report on Kazakhstan reported widespread human rights violations, including severe limits on citizens' rights to change their government; detainee and prisoner torture and other abuse; unhealthy prison conditions; arbitrary arrest and detention; lack of an independent judiciary; restrictions on freedom of speech, the press, assembly, and association; and pervasive corruption, especially in law enforcement and the judicial system.
Freedom House's 2010 world survey declared Kazakhstan "not free" and said, "Kazakhstan holds the chairmanship of the OSCE for the year 2010 despite a record of fraudulent elections and repression of independent critics in the media and civil society -- behavior that only grew worse as 2010 approached."
The latest Human Rights Watch report on Kazakhstan was entitled, "An atmosphere of quiet repression."
"Putting the United States in the same category as a country such as Kazakhstan is ridiculous, said Jamie Fly, executive director of the Foreign Policy Institute, a conservative think tank. "President Obama should be using the success of America's democratic experience to encourage foreign leaders to improve their own systems, not implying that we are all in the same boat."
So now all of these flying projectiles are sanctioned and legal. One can only imagine a pair Richard Reid's shoes flying through the air. Good luck with that, asshats.
Crippling self-destruction. Bowing to "Islamic sensitivities" (and they are a sensitive lot, aren't they -- except when it comes to actual humanity), throwing shoes (even if it means hitting police and/or politicians) is now an accepted practice.
Next up, they'll be sanctioning Islamic terror, because, hey, that's an Islamic sensitivity, too.

Met allows Islamic protesters to throw shoes Times Online
SCOTLAND YARD has bowed to Islamic sensitivities and accepted that Muslims are entitled to throw shoes in ritual protest — which could have the unintended consequence of politicians or the police being hit.
News of the concession by the Metropolitan police has come to light amid a series of trials of more than 70 mostly Muslim demonstrators who were charged with violent disorder after last year’s Gaza protests outside the Israeli embassy in London.
Aquib Salim, 21, an IT student at Queen Mary, London University, who was involved in a shoe-throwing incident, is almost certain to avoid a prison sentence as a result.
Chris Holt, Salim’s solicitor, said he was likely to get a suspended sentence after he pleaded guilty to a single charge of throwing a stick at police lines.
“The court accepted that the earlier shoe-throwing incident was simply a ritual form of protest and therefore not a criminal act of violence,” Holt said.
Judge Denniss agreed that the act of shoe-throwing should not be considered in a charge of violent disorder against the student because it was “a symbolic” political gesture.
Shoes, and particularly the soles of shoes, are regarded as ritually unclean in the Islamic world. An Iraqi journalist became a folk hero for throwing a shoe at President George W Bush during a press conference in December 2008.
The president ducked, but Muntadhar al-Zaidi was jailed for three years and allegedly tortured by the Iraqis. He was released after nine months and his gesture inspired many imitators.
A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service admitted this weekend that the police advice to the Downing Street protesters was a factor in the case at Isleworth crown court, west London.
It has now emerged that the Metropolitan police first told protesters of its stance on shoe-throwing shortly after the attack on Bush.
The concession has already been taken up enthusiastically by Muslim demonstrators, who pelted Downing Street with shoes in protest at the Israeli bombing of Gaza last year.
Dozens of ski-boots and clogs were also hurled at the US consulate in Edinburgh in a related protest, in which three policemen sustained minor injuries.
Lindsey German, convenor of the Stop the War coalition, said: “After the incident in Baghdad we told the police that people would want to bring shoes to throw at Downing Street.
“They said that was okay and there was a facility allowed for people to bring old pairs of shoes. Afterwards they joked that they didn’t realise we were going to throw the shoes so hard.”

Last Saturday I met many of my peers at a party. Throughout the night everyone was talking about Malema, Eugene Terreblanche and WTF is going on with SA journalism? Why isn't anyone standing up to this moron, not even the president. As my one friend noted: "The problem surrounding Malema is that he is basically a "dumb orator with popular support".

And there's no way that a speech from the president will ever really resolve matters, least of all for the discontented masses.
And that's what the rest of us are concerned about.
Things here are going downhill politically and socially. The ANC has tabled a controversial "Green Paper" (not yet put before parliament) that focuses on land redistribution; with a special clause that addresses the re-allotment of farmland to indigenous peoples....
The green paper on agrarian transformation, rural development, and land reform is expected to be submitted to Parliament by the end of April, Rural Development and Land Reform Minister Gugile Nkwinti said on Wednesday.
Speaking in the National Assembly during debate on his budget vote, Nkwinti said the paper would propose that the current land tenure system be overhauled.
A three-tier system would be proposed -- state land under leasehold, private land under freehold with limited extent, and foreign ownership with precarious tenure linked to productivity and partnership models with South African citizens.
This system would be based on a "categorisation model" informed by land use needs at the levels of household, smallholder, and commercial farming.
"National sovereignty is defined in terms of land. That is why, even without it being enshrined in the country's supreme law, the Constitution, land is a national asset," Nkwinti said.
"We must, and shall, fundamentally review the current land tenure system during this medium-term strategic framework period.

Nkwinti acknowledged that the land reform programmes implemented to date had not been sustainable and had not provided the anticipated benefits to the recipients of the programme.
To date, about six million hectares of land had been transferred through restitution and redistribution and much of this land was not productive and had not created any economic benefit for many of the owners.
"There has been an over emphasis on hectares at the expense of development and food security," he said.
This had contributed to declining productivity on farms, less employment in the agricultural sector, and deepening poverty in the countryside. -
This despite what we have seen in Zimbabwe; despite what we have seen in SA: +3000 white farmers murdered since 1994, hundreds of farms taken over by blacks with most of the newly owned farms failing (see the closing paras of the linked article).
By and large everyone I know: (my journo) friends, analysts, activists - are saying / thinking the same thing: South Africa is going one of two ways:
1. Nigeria-style corruption; or
2. Zimbabwe-style corruption.
My one activist friend asked me out for drinks last week just after Terreblanche, the neo-Nazi, was murdered and said to me: "I used to think all we had to do was connect people with the money and it would all be fine. That the politics would sort itself out once it was aligned with capital. But it's not about money. What's going on now in SA is not about money. I'm worried. (Educated) People are being marginalised. Shut out."
And in a way it's true. Last night at the restaurant there was a table full of young black women arguing about the current situation. It was a heated discussion as these things tend to be but good to hear it getting out in the open.
Sad thing is: they are in the minority. Everywhere we went yesterday there were lots of young hip black people. they talk English (with white accents) among themselves and they are very into technology, etc. But these are not the people who support Malema. These are educated people with a global opinion. And they don't constitute a large percentage of the population. Sad.
All the recent ballyhoo over Malema just makes it seem all the more important.
At the end of the day I know there is no future here. Happy to have an Israeli passport which I hope to be using after the World Cup.
