An American from Pakistan arrested over Time Square bomb plot

Time Square bombing investigated

Faisal Shahzad, 30, a US citizen from Pakistan, was arrested at New York's JFK airport late Monday night trying to board a flight to Dubai and will appear in federal court Tuesday. He was identified as the buyer of the Nissan Pathfinder used to rig the failed car bomb. US Attorney General Eric Holder said more than one person is sought in connection with the terrorist plot.

By Monday night, US officials had begun to look seriously at the Pakistani Taliban claim of responsibility.

Friendly rendezvous at Sharm el-Sheikh

Prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu and president Hosni Mubarak agreed on a joint strategy when they talked at Sharm el-Sheikh Monday, May 3, DEBKAfilereports.  it was to go for a partial solution of the Israel-Palestinian conflict based on setting up a Palestinian state within temporary borders, although this formula was repeatedly rejected by Washington and the Palestinians. Both also see Hamas control of the Gaza Strip slipping sharply as a result of their joint embargo on Gaza.
