Dear Imam Rauf and Daisy Khan,
The remains of another seventy-two people were discovered on Friday not far from where you plan to build a thirteen-story Islamic center and mosque. Here we are, close to ten years after the largest jihadist attack ever to take place on American soil, and bodies, corpses, are still being recovered. Who knows how many body parts were found in the Burlington Coat Factory building when the landing gear crashed through all five floors? Thousands were never recovered. Their cemetery, their burial ground, is the area in and around Ground Zero.
Of course, as one of the leaders of the opposition to the painful and strangely thoughtless "Cordoba Initiative," my group SIOA will be pursuing legal avenues to stop or at least dramatically slow down the building of this mosque on the site that many consider to be a war memorial, while also staging mega-protests and sit-ins if and when construction begins, etc. But must it come to that?
You and I are New Yorkers. We are Americans, first. You, too, felt the devastating pain and anguish when the military arm of Islam (al qaeda) unleashed its attack on America on September 11th. The gaping hole at Ground Zero is a constant reminder of that terrible war.
Must we go legal? Must we stage more rallies with tens of thousands of Americans opposing the mosque? Can we not, as human beings, and in the interest of building bridges, mutual understanding and respect, implore you to reconsider your plans? I am sure your motivation to build bridges was a good one. But as you can see, it has had the opposite effect. The public outcry of millions of Americans make plain the wound that has been reopened and the terrible pain this is causing for families, for patriots, for Muslims of conscience. It is unbearable. This surely was not your intent.
Interfaith dialogue is a two-way street. I believe we should all be sensitive to each other. I don't see Muslims separately or apart, I see Americans. Period. Americans who love this country, and don't share the idea of "pure Islam" or "original" Islam that is found in Islamic countries. In many of the emails I receive, many Muslims understand the pain "Cordoba" inflicts -- not just the idea but the name itself (evoking Islamic conquest over the West).
I call upon your conscience, your goodness, your love of America, to move you to reconsider. More rallies will be staged -- tens of thousands will show. People might get hurt in a sit-in trying to stop the ground breaking of a mosque looking down on Ground Zero. Why? In the interest of building bridges?
Can we talk about this? Can we discuss this? Can the building have a church and a synagogue as well as a mosque? Or perhaps no mosque at all -- much the way community centers like the 92nd Street Y or the YWCA, to which you have compared your plan, don't have churches or synagogues.
As a man of the clergy, you must understand the pain this is causing for the victims who mourn their dead, for Americans who mourn their country's losses ........ You can not have wanted to create such sorrow.
What can we do to get you to withdraw this plan? Should we try to raise the money to release you from this tragic mistake? How can we help you? We want to work with you and do the right thing, build bridges and show each other mutual understanding and mutual respect. As a religious man, you would never mean to cause such overwhelming sadness and grief.
Imam Rauf, please withdraw this plan and show the world real understanding and kindness and empathy.

Hamas has allegiance to one thing: its charter (the destruction of Israel) and Islam. So when Obama politely pleads with them to "keep quiet" abut his talks with the bloodthirsty genocidal barbarians, they laugh in his fleshy face.
My well placed sources tell me Obama is moving to remove Hamas from the terror list (and replace them with who, Mother Theresa's group?)

Hamas says asked by US to keep silent on talks

A senior Hamas figure said Friday that official and unofficial US sources have asked the Islamist group to refrain from making any statements regarding contacts with Washington, this following reports that a senior American official is due to arrive in an Arab country in the coming days to relay a telegram from the Obama Administration.
The Hamas figure told the London-based Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper that the Americans fear discussing the talks publicly would "rouse the Jewish lobby and other pressure groups in the US and cause them to pressure the administration to suspend all talks with Hamas."
The Hamas figure, who is close to Ismail Haniyeh, the prime minister of the government in Gaza, added, "This is a sensitive subject. The Americans don't want anyone to comment on it because this would catch the attention of pressure groups (in the US) and cause problems."
He said Hamas' exiled leadership in Damascus is overseeing the contacts behind closed doors.On Wednesday a Washington-based Arabic newspaper quoted a senior official as saying that an American envoy is scheduled to meet with Hamas representatives in an Arab country and hand them a letter from the Obama Administration.
According to the report, the official said Washington has no choice but to work with Hamas due to its influence in the Arab and Islamic world.

Gulf Oil Spill Information for Pregnant WomenI’m pregnant. Can the oil harm me or my unborn baby?
Although the oil may contain some chemicals that could cause harm to an unborn baby under some conditions, the CDC has reviewed sampling data from the EPA and feels that the levels of these chemicals are well below the level that could generally cause harm to pregnant women or their unborn babies. The effects that chemicals might have on a pregnant woman and her unborn baby would depend on many things: how the mother came into contact with the oil, how long she was in contact with it, how often she came into contact with it, and the overall health of the mother and her baby.
People, including pregnant women, can be exposed to these chemicals by breathing them (air), by swallowing them (water, food), or by touching them (skin). If possible, everyone, including pregnant women, should avoid the oil and spill-affected areas. Generally, a pregnant woman will see or smell the chemicals in oil before those chemicals can hurt her or the baby. The EPA and CDC are working together to continue monitoring the levels of oil in the environment. If we begin to find levels that are more likely to be harmful, we will tell the public. What can I do to protect myself and my unborn baby?
- If you live along the coast, avoid areas where there are reports of oil reaching the shore.
- If the smell bothers you or you see smoke, stay indoors, set your air conditioner to reuse indoor air, and avoid physical activities that put extra demand on your lungs and heart.
- If you find any oil, avoid touching it, as well as oil spill-affected water and sand.
- If some of the oil gets on your skin, wash it off as soon as you can with soap and water.
- If you begin to feel sick after coming into contact with the oil or spill-affected areas, contact your doctor or other health professional.
- Follow local and state public health guidelines and warnings related to the oil spill (see links to resources below).
Can the air make me sick?
Although the oil vapors may contain some things that could be harmful to pregnant women, the CDC has reviewed sampling data from the EPA and feels that the levels of these chemicals are well below the level that could generally cause harm to pregnant women or their unborn babies. EPA is testing the air daily and sending the samples to laboratories for further analysis. CDC is working with EPA to decide if there are any chemicals at harmful levels. In addition, EPA scientists are taking [or checking] air samples every hour so that people can be warned if the levels go up. Visit the EPA’s website for the most up-to-date information on air monitoring results.
Smell
Pregnant women may be affected by the strong smell. It can give you a headache or upset stomach, so you may want to stay indoors, set your air conditioner to reuse indoor air, and avoid physical activities that put extra demand on your lungs and heart. If your symptoms do not improve after moving indoors, contact your health care professional, especially if you have asthma or other lung problems.
If you have to be outside, a N95 respirator with an odor control feature may provide some relief from the smell. Based on what we know now, you do not need to use a N95 respirator for your safety, but using one may make you more comfortable. Most hardware stores stock respirators (you should check the label to make sure the mask is a NIOSH certified N95 respirator with odor control or a charcoal layer). Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully to be sure you are using the mask properly.
Burning oil
Burning the oil in the Gulf of Mexico is one method being used to ensure that no oil make it to shore and/or to potentially harm people, animals or the environment. As responders burn some of the oil, some “Particulate Matter” (PM) may be created. PM is a mix of very small particles and liquid droplets found in the air. PM varies in size and the smallest PM can get deep into your lungs. PM should not reach the shore because the fires are far offshore. When crews burn the spilled oil they carefully watch the weather, wind, and water conditions and monitor the air. They stop the burn right away if there is any problem. CDC and ATSDR are helping the Coast Guard, EPA, and our other partners to protect the public’s health. Visit this CDC website for up-to-date information about burning oil and public health.
If you smell or see smoke you can take the following steps to protect yourself:
- Leave the area if you are at greater risk from breathing smoke. If you have a chronic respiratory condition such as asthma or cardiovascular disease, you may be at greater risk. Talk to your doctor about ways to avoid this risk.
- Limit your exposure to smoke: stay inside and use your air conditioner set to a recirculation mode. If you do not have an air conditioner you may wish to leave the area until the smoke is completely gone.
- Avoid activities that put extra demands on your lungs and heart. These include exercising or physical chores, both outdoors and indoors.
- Dust masks, bandanas, or other cloths (even if wet) will not protect you from smoke.

I’ve avoided pictures and video of struggling wildlife, but after being on the coast all week and returning home, I am made aware just how little people outside the coast understand the complete and utter devastation that is taking place right in our own country. If they did I hope that every American would stand up and demand more from their representatives – demand that the federal government admit that the entire Gulf of Mexico is in its own death throes and demand they finally stop putting profit above our people, wildlife and environment. I know of no other way to say we are sitting idly by, as our world dies around us. And I mean “death” in the most literal sense possible.
Have we all become so complacent, so apathetic that we no longer regard nature, life… human life, with enough regard to fight for it? What more must it take to outrage this nation??

Hundreds of Arabs Rampage in Shiloach INN
Arabs in Shiloach (Silwan) near the Kotel in Jerusalem went on a rampage Sunday evening. At least two hundred Arabs hurled fire bombs, fireworks and rocks at security guards stationed at the “Honey House” (Beit HaDvash) in the neighborhood, and at dozens of policemen and Border Police who came to restore order.
Three homes were reportedly on fire.
At least ten security men were lightly hurt. Six of these are apparently policemen and four others are Honey House guards. The guards reportedly fired in the air to ward off the attackers and police forces used stun grenades against the rioters.
Earlier in the afternoon, an Arab mob attacked in Shiloach attacked a car driven by a Jewish man, Rechavia Piltz. Piltz's three children, the eldest of whom is eight, were inside the car with him. He managed to drive away but the vehicle was damaged.
Border Guards arrested two Arabs near Shechem in Samaria Sunday evening after they placed a pipe bomb in a plastic bag near the Huwara checkpoint.
Arabs also hurled rocks at the Jewish community in Hevron Sunday. No one was reported hurt. (IsraelNationalNews.com)
Look, we all know why Stanley McChrystal did what he did. He loves his country.
Frankly, I am surprised that there have not been more defections and resignations from our military. Obama's rules of engagement are deadly, his desire to partner with the barbaric Taliban is the action of an enemy, and when all is said and done, he has no strategy -- but it's getting our boys and girls killed in record numbers.
Clearly, the McChrystal affair casts real doubt on Barack Obama's qualities as a war president. And the media's spin on this historic rebuke of an incompetent wartime president is nothing short of criminal (treasonous, even).
McChrystal deserves the purple heart for this one. He has my undying respect and admiration for standing for what's right.

Let’s assume four-star general Stanley McChrystal is no idiot and after a distinguished 35-year career in the military he knows the rules of the game. Let’s go even further and resolve that a man who spent a year at Harvard, and later ran super secret intelligence operations during the 2nd Iraq war, knows all about liberals, the media, how to keep his mouth shut and when to open it up. Lastly, let’s repeat the obvious. Stanley McChrystal loves his country and believes in his mission.
All of which raises a question that begs to be answered: Why did the general plan to have his deep misgivings about the commander-in-chief aired graphically in public, knowing full well it meant professional suicide?
The answer? Bravery and sacrifice take many forms. McChrystal’s Rolling Stone interview is his message in a bottle to the American people about the nature of our civilian leadership in the Age of Obama. Now that the bottle has come ashore we need to read the note carefully, ignore the MSM's red herrings, and take it at face value.
