Dear Harold, As we near the end of our petition drive opposing the “ground zero mosque” (we now have over 46,000 names!), some ACT! for America chapter leaders and members have asked us what we plan to do next. Thus far, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and nearly all of the members of the Community Board 1 have turned a deaf ear to New Yorkers and families of 9/11 victims. With our petition, we will get the Mayor’s attention. But there is more we can do to make our petition even more effective. NOW, from all across America, we need thousands of phone calls raining down on his office, and thousands of emails pouring into his inbox! We need to send a clear message:
PLEASE TAKE ACTION! I urge you today to place a phone call and/or send an email to Mayor Bloomberg’s office. Using a message similar to the one above, let him know, respectfully but unequivocally, that you are joining thousands of other Americans who will not spend their dollars in New York City.
JOIN US IN THIS ACT OF PROTEST! We have done this successfully in the past. When Tyson Foods of Tennessee approved a union contract that dropped Labor Day as a paid holiday and replaced it with a Muslim holiday, thousands of ACT! for America members called Tyson Foods. Tyson responded to our telephone campaign and reversed course, restoring Labor Day as a paid holiday. TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!! Always devoted and eternally thankful, Brigitte Gabriel President and CEO, ACT! for America www.actforamerica.org
