Dear Editor:

Fidel Castro issued a statement at the UN in which he declared that, Israelis hated Palestinians so much that they would like to send them to the gas chambers – just as theNazis exterminated Jews during the holocaust.  Castro’s statement is so absurd that it does not require a response.
I do want to draw to the attention of the world a law enacted by the Israeli Knesset in 1998 which stated that a political party could not run for the Knesset if it promoted RACISM.  The Koch party was attempting to run for the Knesset with a plank in its platform to remove all Palestinians from Israel.  The highest Court in Israel held that it was racism for a political party to promote this concept.  Thus, the Koch party was precluded from running for the Knesset.
No Israeli political party has ever attempted to advocate a negative theory pertaining to Arabs since the enactment of this law.
This 1998 law and the Court’s decision speak a great deal more forcefully than Castro’s vitriolic statement.

Respectfully submitted,
