Yisrael Katz Will Look at Completing Gaza Disengagement

Reported: 03:24 AM - Jun/14/10      http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/188128

Under instructions from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz will examine the economic and civl ways Israel can disengage from Gaza and thereby complete the process started by former prime minister Ariel Sharon in 2005. Netanyahu has given Katz the task of finding ways of presenting the world with easing of the closure on Gaza in the wake of the May 31st interception of the flotilla trying to break the Gaza naval blockade.

For his part, the transportation minister intends to examine ways of bringing the full responsibility on crossings into Gaza to Egypt during the next few days, as well as responsibility for additional services to Gaza. That includes the possibility of goods going to Gaza from Egypt's Port Said instead of Israel's Ashdod and electricity going to Gaza from Egypt instead of Israel
